Hello, ex-lurker here. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this safety razor? Le Coq? An open comb with adjustment! I was bidding on ebay and lost. It went for $45.50. Seller says it was rare but told me he didn't know much about the history. I'm assuming it is from the 40's./50's. Seemed like an interesting piece.10534 Any info would be great. My sister lives in Paris and maybe she could find one. Thanks
Bringing this question back into the year 2010. Does anyone know anything about this razor?

I still have yet to see one of those hones IRL or in a store...

I have a Le Coq that I purchased off e-bay years ago.
It's what must be called a closed comb and unfortunately came with a Gillette ball end Old Type handle.
I can't remember how it shaves, guess I'll have to take it for a spin.

I shaved with my Le Coq last night and first off there was a lot of play with blade exposure so you had to fiddle with it to get the blade square to the world.
This was a bit more aggressive then I like my razors, the face went okay but the head a different matter, after a couple of shallow cuts on the front side of my head I switched to my trusty NEW.
Tonight I took the calipers to the cap and it .005 narrower then the cap on a NEW, that .0025 more blade exposure per side.
I don't know if that's what makes it aggressive or the weird comb design but I think it's going back in the "Oddball Razor" display, just wish I had the original handle for it, it came mounted on a ball end Old Type handle, the only one I have that doesn't have a crack in it.

Yep I think I bought that one, got a bargain at $5.
The next day another one went for something like $40 i think, I was happy. I got it a few days ago, I like it and its a good razor rest.
