The last week or so I've been using my slant with a feather and getting comfortable with that. It's been noted before, and I have to agree, that the best shave is on the second day with the Feather...one my best ever.:001_tt1:

Since I can never do the same thing for very long:bored:, I picked up a box out of the stack that I've received as samples or PIF. Pulled out a DR Harris with EJ head and popped in a Voskhod. First pass seemed awful...and I almost quit there and then, but persisted with my usual 3 passes and touch up. Got better with each pass but still more pulling than I like. I was, however, amazed at the end result. No weepers. No irritation and the alum block had almost no sting, and the Floid aftershave was it's usual great stuff. End result was between a DFS and BBS. Maybe it was because I was subconsciously extra diligent about pressure etc.after that first pass, but it's just surprising that such an unsatisfactory experience could yield such a good shave in the end.

This sounds similar to my experience with Derby blades. Not the most comfortable shave by any stretch of the imagination, but somehow I'm left with zero irritation and a very smooth face after. If they were more fun to shave with, like a Feather or Crystal ( my fave ), I would use them daily. I'll have to try some of the Voskhod blades next time my AD flares up.....

I probably wouldn't have purchased them, but they came with a razor I bought IIRC. I probably won't use them even though the end result was a great shave. After all it IS about the journey not just the destination. I'll have to try the Crystals.
