I have an Omega "Imitation Badger" synthetic brush from Bullgoose named Lucretia Borgia. Up until now I haven't been so impressed with it's performance, especially since I face-lather from hard soaps. It does a so-so job with bowl-lathering soaps, and so I had relegated it to travel duties.

Enter TOBS Lavender shave cream.

Try as I might, I just could not bowl lather TOBS with my other brushes, Omega 31025 (boar) or Culmak Knight (boar). Lather was thin and watery no matter how much I adjusted water and soap ratios. But then the other day I decided to try the synthetic.

It's like the brush and cream were made for each other! The cream quickly turned into luxurious, slick lather that lasted at least 3 passes :001_tt1: This is some great stuff! And needless to say, I'm happy to find a regular use for the Lucretia Borgia.

I have the same brush and I use it for travel.

My badgers never fully dry when travelling unless I spend days in the same hotel.

I have the same brush with the red "meta-crystal" handle. I used it for travel this summer and, like you, thought the brush "okay---not special." But the more I use it, the more I admire it. Kiss my Face explodes with it, and I have great luck with the soft soaps like Omega, Proraso White, & Valobra.

Its just a bit different---and maybe more fussy about what it eats. But it dries fast, doesn't smell and, after dozens of shaves, it looks like it did the day I bought it.
