If you search eBay for rare berg razor, you'll find a personalized Erik Anton Berg razor in gorgeous condition, with case, with a 'best offer' option and a 'buy it now' price of $2,495.95. My question: do you think that price is fair, too high, or too low? Ultimately, it depends on each person, but as far as general market value for a razor like that, what do you think of the price?

(I know we're not supposed to link to live auctions, so I haven't done so. Also, I am in no way affiliated with the seller or the auction.)

This.

Many sellers throw stuff out there with what seems like absurd (to me) prices, just on the off chance that there is some deep-pocketed individual out there longing for just this very item. Once in a while, someone does buy. Ultimately, eBay is a microcosm of the free market system: any item is "worth" what someone is willing to pay for it. To me, that seems a ridiculous amount to spend for a razor, but then again I do not have a nearly-complete collection of museum-quality Swedish razors, either...

I guess it depends on whether it is really a rare and mint condition collectible straight that could be worth something like that or whether it's just a seller trying to catch a fool with an inflated description.

Imagine you wanted that particular razor for the past 10 years. Imagine also you just won the Powerball lottery last week...2 grand would be chump change, heck if it was me I would make me a 7 day set:).
