Who's knot did the maker use?
it's from that secret place down under where they shear the badgers ;-)
here is all that was in the ebay spiel:
"The shaving brush head is a 22mm Grade A Silvertip Badger Hair knot with extra stuffing. It is the finest you can possibly procure and is the single most important ingredient in getting the perfect shave - it provides a thicker, richer and more emollient lather."
i am going to conatct the artist and ask if he has more info.
the workmanship is outstanding and the knot is much more dense than what's in my vulfix.
i'll be trying it out in a couple of hours...

Here you go. They are flanking one of my other all time favorite brushes the Simpson Persian Jar 3.
The one on the left is a Red Coolabah (Eucalyptus) burl and the other is a rare and exceedingly beautiful Cocobolo Burl. They both have 26mm knots. The pictures do not do them justice.:001_wub:
I wish I had a regular bulb style knot in the Cocobolo brush. The fan shaped knot is a bit too floppy for my taste. maybe one of these days, i will send it to Rudy to have it replaced by another two band knot from TGN.

I have a brush from Mr. Ey too. It looks like its made from the same wood, mallee burl?. He makes the finest shaving brushes hands down. If you are going to buy a hand turned brush he is the only person I would recommend. The level of craftsmanship is amazing and the finish is like his listings say, "exhibition grade".

a comparison to my 20mm vulfix, after use/bloom:
http://vukfoto.com/misc/ge_v_vulfix.jpg
hard to imagine that it is only a 2mm difference, but the density is much, much greater. following my usual routine, i ended up making enough lather to shave 3 southern europeans.
do i really need to try a simpsons or anything bigger? does anyone favour small knots over large?

Glenn Ey is indeed a real Magician!
Very nice guy, a real gentleman AND craftsman, good to do business with!
I'm lucky enough, to own 2 of is masterpieces. The one on the right is a custom one, made by Glenn on my specs... thnxs again for that Glenn!
This one is made in a beautiful Vasticola Burl. It's such a nice burl, with a lot of different "swirls" in it...
Not to say, that I'm really in :em2200: whit this piece!

that seems very logical to me in terms of design. is that the case in practice/lathering?

For me this design is AWESOME!
I was thinking about this, a long time... but couldn't find one that had this design...
The "ball" of the handle, is lying very good into the palm of your hand... makes it very easy for me, to lather up... but with an "handle" height of 90mm, and a overall height off...150mm (and that's AFTER blooming)... this is not a brush for the faint hearted... :em3300: :em3300: :em3300:
And they are not only LOOKING good... they are also made to perfection, and due to the finish, they feel so soft in your hand...
It's giving me that extra tough while shaving... over and over again...

I have one of Glenn's 24 mm masterpieces also and I could not be happier with the performance and looks of the brush. Glenn was super nice to work with and I highly recommend his brushes to anyone who is looking for a quality hand made brush.

p.s. it will be very interesting to see how the simpson brush with plastic handle and 22mm know that i ordered from WCS (at 50% greater price) stacks up to something like this.

Glenn's badger knots are good, but if he had access to Shavemac or Simpson knots for his brushes! Wow, hold on to your hat!
I am thinking about buying a couple of TGN Finest knots and sending it to him for something real special.:001_wub:
