You still own the Whitestone Bridge, Rich? You're coming right? You can visit the Penguins in the Central Park Zoo.

I'll be there.

Scott, just remember, 8th Avenue along the Park is Central Park West.

Houston Street is pronounced HOWston St.

DunEdinRanger

Well, how about this?

Start at the CO Bigelow Shop at 6th Avenue and 8th -9th Street, a mere 1.7 mile walk. From Ground Zero, we can take a short stroll and walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, then meander uptown to Pasteur's on 34th, with a possible stop along Canal Street, so he can pick up faux Tag Heuer watches, and imported fountain pens.

Don't we always wait until the very last second to the actual planning?

DunEdinRanger
07-29-2011, 03:37 PM
We should meet over a few beers to discuss the itinerary.

And Scott should tell us what he wants to do.

Then we'll tell him he shouldn't be such a tourist.

But, on Saturday, if he wants to see GZ, I recommend walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. Then, we can either take a subway back or walk across again and get lunch, then hit Pasteur's. He should at least walk by the Empire State Building, and maybe hit Central Park.

What do you want to do and when, Scott?

I do want to see GZ. How far out of the way is the statue of liberty. The Empire State Bldg would be cool. Remember Bigfoot climed that baby while holding Fay Ray.

craig87c
07-29-2011, 07:33 PM
to see the statue from GZ is only a few blocks walk. To see it up close is a few hours wait!

The empire state building is also near one of the Pastures, location which is convenient.

brianw
07-29-2011, 07:40 PM
As well as Heartland Brewery !!!!!

DunEdinRanger
07-29-2011, 08:18 PM
I would suggest meeting at GZ, then strolling down to the Staten Island Ferry, which passes near the statue. On our return, we can go up the east side towards the Brooklyn Bridge and the South Street Seaport.

Then the Empire State Building and Heartland.

We're sure Pasteur's is open Saturday's in August?

The township of North Bergen, NJ is located in:

1) Hudson County
2) Northern Bergen County
3) West of West Hoboken, and North of West New York
4) South of Bergen County
5) North of the old Bergen section of Jersey City.

Rudy, who needs sleep? We can hit AC for an all you can eat buffet, stroll down the boardwalk, and then as the sun rises, head back up to NYC. ALL NIGHTER anyone?

2) The site of the Aaron Burr - Alexander Hamilton Duel
3) The site of the first brewery in Hoboken, and NJ.
4) The site of Stevens Institute's famous "Spaghetti Incident". (We don't talk about that, anymore)

They are all correct.

Only 1) is correct. The Burr-Hamilton duel occurred in Weehawken, about 1.5 miles up the road from the Elysian Fields. There was a brewery situated at the old Maxwell House Coffee plant. There was no spaghetti incident!!! Mayor Gangemi was elected while not being a citizen, but I believe he was picked up for that at Jersey City City Hall.

You guys are making my homesick for my old stomping grounds! Born in Queens NY where I lived until I was 18 and then moved to NJ (lived in Bergen and Morris County).

The only things I don't miss about the area: high taxes, traffic, and WEATHER.

Have a great meetup. Wish I was there.

I'm surprised that KC let you back in now that you have had your taste of real civilization !!! If you would have told them that you went thru the shortest tunnel you had ever seen ,, well just to say they wouldn't have given your token to enter (turnips) and forever been banned from KC!!!!
