Since buying the new version R41, and realizing how good it really is, it's nice and aggressive clean shave, with absolute minimal effort, I feel it has ruined my RAD, because after almost 40 years of shaving with a DE and trying literally hundreds of razors in that time, I have finally found the one that gives me the ultimate shave to date, so now i can see myself buying a bunch of muhles and replacing the handles, and selling off the rest.

I think matched up with a BRW handle, i have found razor Nirvana.

Please don't say things like this. I feel like I have my RAD in check until I read this kind of stuff.

I just matched my R41 head with a stainless steel handle from a manufacturer who shall remain nameless, and the shave was spectacular. I'm definitely thinking about a acquiring a BRW handle real soon.

Oh God that is sweet, is that an I**n handle? not sure why it should remain nameless it is outstanding, as is your photo's.

I never thought i would say such a thing but it has happened, so not sure thats a good thing or a bad one.

So are we saying the Muhle handle isn't heavy enough?

It looks like a Barbasol razor somewhat. I have one of those cheese graters already. Is the new R41 different than a floating Barbasol?

Well that's a matter of personal preference i think, personally i like that heavy handle. and in comparison to the Barbasol, that also being aggressive, I find the muhle more refined and a tad smoother , I get a supreme shave from the Muhle, and a great one from the Barbasol which happens to be in my top 7 razors.

I hope this razor ruins my RAD too. I actually didn't have any symptoms of RAD until I read this thread. One look at that thing and I had to have it. Just ordered.

I prefer to err to the side of caution.

As KM said, it's a personal preference. The stock handle is nice, but I feel like the razor maneuvers a little better with a heavier handle. Certainly not a shortcoming in design, just a preference.

it's an iKon handle. the new rules state that they along with other mfgr's are NOT "filtered vendor" anymore, but they are still banned.

there, i said it...it's an iKon.

and i'll say this....that looks like a sweet paring.

After 2 weeks of daily shaving with the new R41, I shall declare " The RAD is dead, Long live the RAD".

Quick question, I have been away from the DE side for awhile, is that a matte finish that is available or perhaps just a lighting thing. thanks. I am very interested as the profile of the head is very svelt and to my liking.

The only matte effect is on the head inbetween the comb section, I guess it would have been hard to polish that area.

It adds a little weight and a personalization.

+1 2 shaves and it's gone for me. even the most expensive blade 25-30cents, isn't worth pushing it's limits

Actually, that would be the lighting/camera setting. The head is mirror shiny all over (even between teeth), but the handle might look a little matte in comparison as it is polished stainless steel rather than plating.

This is the first I've heard of the new change with banned vendors.
I welcome the change. It allows the members to discuss all vendors freely while allowing the mods to police the forum as they see fit.

Well done.
