Give me some ideas. My favourite blade so far has been the Bic Astor Stainless - it's a bit obscure (and was a bit pricey too - £2 for 5 blades) but it's somehow nice. I don't know where to rate it on aggression as I don't really have much experience in the blade sampling field. So with minimal info, what can people recommend?

I'm not sure what happened. Thought I had hit reply... Anyway, since I'm not sure what you have available in the UK, I would tend to go with something smooth, sharp, and forgiving. Perhaps an Astra SP or a Bolzano blade?

I would suggest any sampler blade pack which would be available to you in the UK, there are few online retailers with a huge selection.

sampler blade pack or just about any blade will work just fine

+2 blade sampler.

(In no particular order) I found any flavor of Gillette 7 O'Clocks, Personna Med Prep , Bolzano, Bluebird, Bic, SuperMax, Feather, there are more that skip my mind at the moment, work fine in it. Of course some worked better than others, but that list all worked fine for me. The only blades I really didn't like in it were either of the 2 Dorcos, they really were the absolute pits.

(+3) Sample Pack. It's cheap and a good way to experiement. You may love a particular blade, try a new one and go back to the one you thought you loved but don't care for it anymore...

A blade sampler is the way to go, but since you asked for a specific recommendation, I say use an Israeli Red Personna. That's what I like in my Slim.
