So, you're liking the Tokiwa? I'm pretty impressed with it and really like the color!

Really liking it! This is a very interesting ink!

In my pocket tomorrow, Thursday, will be my new Laban Mento, loaded with J. Herbin Eclat de Saphir. Tomorrow will be the big test but so far with the limited use tonight, this will be a nice pen. Although it has a medium nib, it is much closer to the fine nibs in my other pens. It is a BIG pen. For comparison, it is next to my Pelican and one I turned.

One awesome looking pen! I also think the pen you turned is fantastic as well.

That's the ink I'm using right now. It really pops on the page, and I'm finding it a very well-behaved ink.

My trusty Hero 616. Still the only FP in my stable. Got a 78g w/ a stub/cursive italic nib coming in today or tomorrow, and a TWSBI 530 M nib coming Sunday. My guess, though, is that the Hero will still see some serious work.

Inked up with Private Reserve Chocolat today. Very nice! But it feathers a bit more than my Noodler's Black or Quink Blue-Black.

I think a weekly thread is a great idea, too!

Yesterday and today will be mostly my brand new (to me) Esterbrook J (thanks Nemo!) with J Herbin Cafe des Iles.

The brown comes out of this NOS medium nib so smoothly, no skipping, great shading on the ink...just terrific all around. Gonna have to get ahold of some more Esties if they're all like this...

Sailor 1911 with Edelstein Onyx and Lamy with Monteverde Turquoise.

Flushing the Sailor with water and a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid sorted out the flow issues and it is rapidly becoming my go to pen.

Please pardon the Lamy, it has seen better days.

Never leave home without a petit1 in my pocket. Cheap, portable and great size for carrying in a pocket.

Not sure how I feel about the new line though.

Nemo loaned me a Pelikan 14kt OB nib that has be custom ground into a Cursive Italic Stub. What a Guy! I have been having a ball discovering all the ins and outs of this nib. I have to tell you, I am hooked. Here is a sample of how it writes as well as pictures of the nib mounted on my m600.

pal,
Thanks. Turning, especially pens can be addictive, and I've managed to control things pretty well. I didn't really expect much given the low cost of the kit, and had planned to get a replacement nib from TGN, but this writes wonderfully. It's somewhere between M and B. It took a while writing on a brown paper bag to get the scratchiness out, but since then has been great.

After using the Laban all day, I am very happy with this purchase. It is lighter than expected for the size, and fits my hand nicely even when not posted. I did not spring for the gold nib, and am very happy with the steel. And I really like the Eclat de Saphir...looks blue in some light and purple in others and varies from paper to paper. Nice effect.

Mark, nice pen, your Laban Mento -- that's probably the color I would choose, that or the Amazon Forest green. Congrats!

EDIT: OK, the Tiger Tornado looks like tortoise, that one too.

Doug,
Those were the other choices I was considering, but I don't have any others even close to this so I decided to go for something different!

Thanks Dave, It is amazing how ones handwriting improves when they pick up a fountain pen. But with this Cursive Italic Stub, I can't believe the difference it makes. I really can't take the credit, it is the nib.

Although I don't have a Sheaffer that exact style, the familiar two tone nib non-white dot prompted the question. Those FeatherTouch nibs are one of the quietly underrated jewels in vintage pen collecting/using!

I agree. I wanted this pen because I didn't own a pen with the Touchdown filling system however the nib was an unexpected treat.
