I probably have posted in the wrong forum, but here goes.
It would seem that the explosion of Fountain Pen users, questions about Fountain Pens, Inks, etc is growing by the hour.
Most of us here have spent time at FPN, which has a wealth of knowledge, but is lacking somewhat in genuine helpfulness and tends to get really testy between the members and actually allows flames to erupt and actually fans them.
We have lots of FP users here and it may seem time for a subforum of the speakeasy to help all of us B&B'ers be able to stay here and discuss the fine art of FP's...
Besides who better to help with FPAD then these bunch of enablers !!!!!
What say you B&B ?????
Now this is what you call a textbook example of how to set up a poll. It has the obligatory Art reference, and a bonus sarcastic choice. Well done.
For those who feel that this subject is best left for places such as FPN, I would remind you of one of the core values of B&B's corporate mission: taking the good things in life out of the hands of "stick in the muds".

B&B is for those who want to take their hobby or obsession to the nth level. Bring on the fountain pen sub forum!

I've been a member at FPN and I thought I was just being overly sensitive but found many of the comments and people less than helpful. So I stopped posting and just lurked to gain information. I have appreciated the atmosphere here at B&B much more and would welcome a fountain pen subforum. Thanks for asking for our opinion!

I think it would be a good idea.
I've nothing against FPN, but it gets to be a little too advanced for my liking sometimes.
A simple question doesn't seem to get a simple answer.

I think a pen sub-forum would be great. Nothing against FPN but I just don't have time to track two sites these days.

I voted Art is King because it was the right thing to do. The time is right to add a fountain pen sub forum, FPN is just to caustic at times. By the way where is the fountain pen smiley :001_tt2:

It does not! I can't believe you would even say something so ungentlemanly. ;)
Seriously though, I'm right there with you. The beginner type questions on FPN are usually met with relatively friendly answers, but I just don't get the same vibe over there that I do over here. I sense an elitism among some of the members, though I'm sure you could argue that point. I also believe that at least one of the subforums, which shall remain unnamed, is overmoderated. While the FPN will probably always be the definitive pen forum in my mind, I absolutely think that there's enough pen talk around here to support a pen subforum. Why limit it to fountain pens? Lots of questions arise around here about ballpoints and rollerballs as well and I see no reason to exclude them.

I think we could easily go with pens and the related paraphernalia.

I voted for Art as usual but think a fountain pen / writing forum is a nice idea.

I love this idea.. I am pretty new into fountain pens, and I have been frequenting over at the FPN, but more as a lurker. I think a sub-forum here would be awesome. We could talk about everything writing related (fountain pens, notebooks, paper, blotter, inks, rollerballs, caligraphy, etc)... I think it is a fabulous idea.

Yes, I think it is a great idea.
We have 5 "no" votes- Just curious, what's the perceived downside?

I've been a member of FPN for a long time and have found the people over there just as helpful as the members of B&B. I decided to spend less time there because of the serious case of AD I developed and found another AD right here... ;) Be that as it may, I like the idea of fountain pen related subforum and voted in favour of it! I also like the suggestion "The Write Stuff" for a name for that forum.

I was going to vote yes, untill I saw all the silly names proposed to be inflicted on the new subforum.

I decided not to quote all of you, because that's what I would have to do, since I agree with so many of you. I'm also a member at FPN, but didn't get the comraderie there that I enjoy here. Also, since Brian brought it up, and since Brian has most likely "encouraged" so many of us, like me, to start down the path leading to serious FPAD, I vote he be a Mod or Steward in the new forum, and it should be called a name that reflects the blending of fountain pen and shaving interests under Brian's watch:
"PenHooligans"
"PenHooligans"
Better not let Ian see that one.

I am late to the party! Glad this is a hit!
I tend to say out of the Speakeasy forum anyway, as I seem to have a consuming interest in wine and spirits, and sure do not need any encouragement! (That goes 10x for the Brown Leaf forum.) Not sure the Nib Forum could make my FPAD any worse. It is pretty bad, and my ink AD worse. And I blame you BrianW!
Thats purdy
He got a real purdy pen, ain't he?
