Hi all:
Glad b an b is back, it allows my to share my RAD.. seriously though I just had to splurge and order the new mhule r41 from Mhule themselves. Has anyone ordered or been able to get one yet and if so, how does it shave as I'm really keen to find out. There has been speculation that it will be much more aggressive than its previous incarnation? :confused1

FYI to anyone ordering from the Muhle site in the US...the new razor hasn't yet been shipped to Muhle's US supplier so all orders ship from Germany. Shipping is ~$7 and takes 7-10 days from what I remember.

Waynejitsu:
Ordered mine from the mhule site, Cost 32.00 euros, which is approx 28.00 pounds or $46.00. This isn't including the shipping charge. As yet, there is no UK or US vendor that I know of. Hope UK stockists will be having it soon as friends of mine have birthdays coming up.

Hello,
I ordered mine at the Muhle website directly: http://www.muehle-shaving.com/shop
The Tooth Comb is available in three handles; chrome, black an white.
Which Muhle did you order? The chrome plated one?

Wimbouman:
Got it in one, I ordered the chrome since the white and black and chrome are all the same price, and the chrome was the best looker of the three. Just can't wait till it gets here... RAD is back with a vengence

Why not order from muhle, it's what the vendors do.

Yes, that is a bit strange indeed.
The R41 is an open comb.
The new R41 Muhle calls a tooth comb.
So why not change the ID number?

I suspect that Mühle enjoys confusing us. This is the same company that changed the R89 from open-comb to closed-comb, without changing the model designation, right?

Argh... yes you are right they did that also.
Strange fellows, those Germans.
Great razors though.

Yeah, looks like shipping to the US is only $8, according to the website, which cancels out VAT (if they choose to deduct it). Think I'll order one up.

yup. i don't even know if it's MUHLE or MUEHLE. razors and website say "MUHLE", but the web address is "MUEHLE".
confusing or not, they do make fine razors. :w00t:

I got one of these about a year ago. I am very pleased with it using Feathers and Black 7 o'clocks.

My favorite, daily razor is the R41, and so I couldn't resist ordering the new head version.
Ordered from: http://www.shaving.ie/products/Muhle-R-41-Open-Comb-Safety-Razor.html
Will post a comparison when it arrives.

OK..... done
After trying a Bostonian my usual rotation ceased as nothing even comes close to the Bostonian (1918 British) :001_wub: for smoothness and closeness for me so I am keen to see how well this new head stacks up in comparison?????
Usually takes about a week from Ireland to Oz

I have a bostonian, for closeness the r41 spanks it.
Just go easy ok.

This is a classic YMMV.
I have a current model r41, not a bad razor but I prefer the weight and balance of the Bostonian (78g v 58g) over the Muhle.
Of the 50+ razors I have the only one I haven't tried yet is my '05 Double Ring, I can get a good shave from the vast majority of them including the r41 but my favorite happens to be the Bostonian, not a matter of technique or ability..... just my personal preference.
Cheers

So do i prefer the bostonian for weight and balance, but i meant for overall closeness of the shave the r41 wins due to it's aggression.

Hmmm, I would not have thought the r41 to be the more aggressive of the two, seem to be on par to me????
I'll shave with 41 for the next few days and see if I agree, also good to reacquaint my self with the old head to better compare it to the new one.

Like i tell everyone else, take your time the bostonian lets you get away with anything, this one will bite if you let it.
But you will be rewarded with the closest shave ever, i certainly am.
I did think it was too harsh to begin with, but now im dialling in to it i love it, exactly what i want in a razor.
