Hello all, my son is just finishing up his advanced training & will most likely be headed to Afghanistan in a couple of months. He does not like his shaving setup right now; can't remember what it is. I would like to get him an ideal setup for his situation. He is in the Army as a Calvary Scout.

I'm thinking he will have to dry shave at times & it just would not be conducive for him to have a brush. So it needs to be light, semi-durable, and fast. I think the razor is a Mach 3, but not sure of the cream, maybe a travel size Kiss My Face. Can he dry shave with this setup. He has a very light beard at this young age. What would suggest? In particular, you fellows that have been there and know the conditions. Thanks

A Gillette Tech is a mild and forgiving razor to the face.

Check out my Active Duty PIF Redux post stickied at the top of this Forum. Have him join B&B, check in at the Active Duty Check in thread also in this Forum, then post to my PIF and I will send him a nice vintage Gillette, some blades, a shave stick which should work fairly well for lathering by hand; I can also send a brush if he wants one. It's what we do here to thank those in uniform.

It also appears that Cremo Cream maybe the ticket, as well. Do you need much water to use this? Thanks captp, much appreciated. I will let him know & get him signed up when he's finished with training.

I have no personal experience of this product http://www.ulltra.com/For-Him/c-1-68/ but it is discussed here http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/185582-Everyone-should-try-Ulltra-Shave-at-least-once.

Can you get Ultra in the states? After reading a handful of reviews it sounds like the product to use for dry shaving.

I'm ex military and would not recommend dry or soapless wet DE shaving. Disposables are a safer bet. Go see Predator(1987). :001_smile

If you have access to water and soap then go for DE, with a bit of practice most ppl can learn to do at least DFS in a cartridge-like time frame.

The website offers prices in USD so I imagine they'll supply to addresses in the US.

I also note they have an affiliates programme whereby referrals generate cash for the referrer. I'd like to make it clear I am not part of that scheme, have never tried the product and am not endorsing it n any way.
