Been DE shaving for about 3 months now. Finally found my Blade of Choice. Gillette 7 O'clocks!!! Finally a razor that is smooth and sharp. (for me at least) But wait! What about this sacred Feather? The end all to razors and facial hair?? Can it be!?? It CAN!! Traded some razors I had just laying around for some Feathers and finally got to try one out this weekend.
In short.....don't try them till you have a few months in! I have my technique down pretty good. Not great, but good enough...and I still got some pretty good weepers from the Feather. Overall however, it was an awesome shave! My hair is like 14 Guage Speaker wire and the Feather sliced right through it!!! The weepers went away fairly quickly as well. Between the 7's and the Feathers I think I've found my perfect Blades!!

I don't agree you should wait for using Feathers, I used a Feather for my second DE shave ever without any problems at all, so YMMV...
They're my favorite blade, great stuff.

It is stories like this that make me save opening my feathers for a few months down the track. Currently on the Astra's but will probably try the Gillette next, then onto the Derbi's I believe.

I'd also disagree about having to wait to use them, they were my first DE blade. I tried 7 O'Clocks a couple of times and since haven't bothered to try any blade but feather. I now use them in a shavette with no problems. For some reason people seem to think that because they're sharper, you're more likely to cut yourself when in reality any other blade can cut you just as easily. Only maybe not with quite as clean-a cut!

Use a Feather just like any other blade. Nothing to fear. It's just a blade. Gives 2 great shaves and then ready to be tossed.

I was going to wait but, I am going to move them up in my rotation. Using Personna Lab Preps now.

I waited about six months before trying out some Feathers, the day I returned from deployment. Same experience as you: amazing shave with little weepers that dried out quickly. My wife had never felt my face so smooth!

I'm going to keep them set aside for special occasions.

Couldn't agree more, though I'm biased as I've never used another blade.
Used to do 3 shaves with them, but now I do 2. I really enjoy the awesome sharpness.
3rd shave is good, but not good enough money-wise, so I toss them after 2.

Even using blades twice is way cheaper than Fusion & such.
