I see you got the "fuzzy" model. Nice score! Please post a review once you have had time to break it in.

I'm curious, is this brush top heavy? The design sort of gives off that feeling.

Pilfer

No, not top heavy at all, at least while dry. The base is quite weighty and the balance point is just above the rings around the handle, about where that little dark block of print is below the Kent name.

Gorgeous shaving brush! I must admit the BK8 is my favorite of the BK line and I dearly long for one.... I'm jealous! Oh well, looks like I'll just have to buy ANOTHER shave brush

Kent brushes have one of the most stylish handles for shaving brushes there are on the market these days; very elegant and classy looking; also the text on the brush is applied with a very high quality imprinting process, contrary to f.i Simpsons, where the decal falls off after one shave and the text disappears in time. What remains is a blank handle, without a characteristic brand mark....not that this is very important, but it adds a special touch to a handle imo....

Although the quality of the bristles isn't as high as those of Simpsons f.i., the Kent's stay a very desirable line of shaving brushes which one ought to have in one's closet imo

I had always wondered about the quality of the Kents and the other day I was in a Crabtree and Evelyn store, they had a few Kent brushes.
There was a BK12, a T4 I think and some other ones with the acrylic handles. I did feel them all and was a little disappointed, since I had expected them to be much different.
They are nice looking brushes but for me they did feel a little on the floppy side and the bristle was more like a regular badger hair. They were also very expensive which surprised me when I did see the prices.

this weekend i picked up the following gillettes:
slim handle adjust, fat boy adjust, gold "NEW" style gillette 3 piece, 40's SS, 3 flared tip superspeeds, long plastic blue handle gillette fixed head that ive yet to try and ID, and a 41 ranger tech. off the gillette front i got a very nice GEM micromatic that shaves like a dream. i really need to stop buying these things, especially considering how all of them aside from the "NEW", plastic handle and micromatic are just duplicates or worse in the collection.

Can you guess which brush is the new one? The Floris 1/2 price sale made this attractive and possible. Anyone know who makes the brushes for Floris?

Steve,

It's one of the reasons I ordered it. It's a bit shorter than I thought it would be. I just took it out of a Borax soak, and it looks like the knot is a bit smaller than the Crabtree & Eveylyn Edwin Jagger Brush (http://store.crabtree-evelyn.com/acc130147.html). The bloom is a bit smaller. The hair feels more like the Vulfix #2234 (http://www.classicshaving.com/catalog/item/800550/422187.htm). I'll break it in tomorrow morning!

Im still recovering from the pics you send for the my wife was getting on my case thread !..
still recovering..I cant believe you posted that.... You must really want that
CAKE dont you

Offcourse the saying goes..no wetshaver should be without a Kent in their collection.. !!!!!!! :mad3: So ! find your piggy bank....

A nice Anecdote perhaps is I showed the pics of B&B and your den to my collegeau who HATES Shaving (he almost fainted when I told him the brush prices ! ) and loves his M3 which one cartridge proudly lasts him 1-2 months or so.. I told him offcourse it lasts you 2 months you only shave with it max 2 shaves per week ! he looks like a Neanderthaler sometimes! then I started to talk a bit about pre-shaves,balsems,a/s lotions, EDT,EDP, and I saw his eyes begin to fill with curiosity.. I thought lets not push him over the edge...but then miracle happened he started to THINK and ask yeah sometimes it really hurts shaving when you have a though beard what should I do!!!!!!!!! oh well there was my opening for starting to convert him..

No shaving gear this week but I did pick up a sweet camera and lens. I got sick of the point and shoot cameras. They never came close to a digital SLR. This baby focuses lightnin' fast. Most places have the camera/lens (18-70mm) kit for $999 but I paid $858 (I just checked and they dropped the price to $843). The 50mm lens was $99.

RR, nice choice in gear. I have a D70 and the two lenses you have. I also have a few others and an array of other goodies. I highly recommend getting the SB-800, next. Fantastic flash. I'm looking to get at least one more.

Shaving doesn't even come close to what I've spent (and will spend) on photography gear.

Craig,
You have exceptional taste! Everything you seem to buy shocks me, as it always seems to be just about my favorite thing from each line.... you seem to hit the nail on the head the first time!

Good form!

The SB-800 or SB-600 is going to be in my camera bag in the next few months. I'm on several waiting lists for the new Nikon 18-200mm VR lens. Every dealer is either sold out or is charging an arm & a leg. They're selling like hot cakes on e-bay.

Thanks Joel. Most of what I look at or buy is based on the members of this forum and their experiences. Everyone does such a great job of posting about shaving stuff it becomes easy to make decisions.
