I went in to the den tonight and realized the DE's needed dusted. Then I was thinking man I just do not use these much any more and I have so many except for a couple of the high end ones I make it a point to use only because of what they are. I am truly becoming a huge fan of the straight razor. I really enjoy the experience much more then the DE:eek: I still love to restore DE's but not shave with them. The question is do I sell off most of the collection except for a select few or not:yikes: I have always believed I collect to use not to look at I know we have talked about this in other threads and these DE's are just starting to set and collect dust. What to do:confused1 :confused1 :confused1

PM me pictures and I might be interested in taking few off of your hands. Adjustables in particular.

Yes Don you should sell them. You have my email. I remind you that only a few days ago you said I should have an HD Jr. Aristocrat. I don't mean to sound like a shark circling for the kill but then again if the shoe fits...!

New in this DE world, but be glad and proud to take some of your hands. I could say "I own a DE of the great TAZ collection" . But before you dismantle shop, can you photograph each DE and setup a B&B id catalog.

The nice thing about a decision like that is that you can always change your mind .......... assuming you haven't sold your primo DEs

I haven't used a DE in well over a year now. I'm fond of my fatboys, but I'm a lot fonder of my straights. I've been giving away my injectors and gillettes to guys at work who have had problems with the cartridge razors and are looking for a good shave. Between that, a burma-shave boar brush, and Williams, and they're getting great shaves for the first time in years.

Hmm, maybe I'll use my burma-shave brush tomorrow. It really is an awfully good little boar brush.

Don,

For now, keep them. Wait 6 months, then decide.

Going completely straight?

That should come as a relief to the family. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

I thought about saying the same thing but I figured if I were patient Jay would fire that shot across the bow!

Now if you go to straights like Don the market will be flooded with primo Gillettes and the price will fall  I will load up on Brits and 1904s

I was wondering when you would get to this point........

Even if you do go exclusive to the straight, I would keep a few DE's around for emergencies.........

Have fun,

Lynn

Personally, I'm waiting for Lynn to switch to DE's. I want to be there when the floodgate of straights opens up to the public.

Ha, you guys must be shaving with some homemade soap with some funny stuff mixed in.

I would think long and hard about selling any vintage DE's. Just think of them as collectables. Once they are gone, they are gone. Come 2030 and fatboys are going for about a grand on Eboy you'll be sorry you sold them.
