of course there was the usual last second sniper driving the price up:scared:
but i was playing hardball on this one:001_tt2:
i still think i did pretty good price wise:wink2:
looks like a red/black NEW set at first glance due to the poor photo
closer inspection revealed a deluxe head on that common bar handle though
looks like one other person recognized it for what it was
heheheheehehehehhehhehe
finally scored a NEW deluxe
sheesh
hard to come by without paying a fortune
so now if i like it i have fodder for a BRW bull mastiff deluxe
gonna see how i like the shave first though
i love the new improved shave
if its like that i am in

Nice Score, looks like the case is not bad at all.
All of the ones I have seen in the wild have horribly disfigured cases.

Nice score - it is getting harder to find real bargains in the bay now.

Guilty. If it makes you feel any better I only live-bid snipe and never auto-bid.

I think you did fine. I was going for a price at the upper end of what I would have still considered a deal, since I couldn't be absolutely sure about the plating on the cap from that one picture.
The one thing I ask is that if the head is still in sound shape and you like the shave, please don't do a replate on it. I can get you a replacement to use, but there aren't enough of these around in good shape to just go replating one willy-nilly.
Also, if you decide you don't like it shoot me a note. If you like the New Improved you'll probably like the NEW DeLuxe, though. I find it noticeably more aggressive than the New Improved, though, so do be on your toes. :thumbup1:

I'm glad you got it, I know you've been looking for one :)
If you hate it, I'll gladly take it off your hands! The New Deluxe are great shavers IMHO.

I saw that one, good on ya for getting it. If you have a short comb NEW, it will shave more like that, maybe a bit more agressive. I got a few of the Bar Handled NEW DeLuxes and I am definitely going to get one of those heads replated in nickel, the head being completely brassed.
It will go into this case which contains my replated in nickel NEW short and long comb heads (just to show you what is possible):
174752
174751
Nickel definitely glides better then brassed plating.
I do agree with MacDaddy, if the gold plating on the head is in good shape (not to mention replating is an extra outlay of $), keep it like it is. A bit of Scrubbing Bubbles soaked for no longer then 15 seconds and then toothbrushed off with warm soapy water will make that old molecular thin gold shine!
Make sure to update us with your experience of shaving with it!

shaves like a NEW short comb eh ?
if thats the case i might not like it
i never really made peace with my NEW short comb
i can use it but
despite my efforts it just irritates me
and on top of that it doesnt shave near as close as my favorite
old head on a bull mastiff
maybe it would do better with a different blade - i dunno
feathers work great in the old and new improved for me
i can use a NEW long comb better than the NEW short
but it still kinda irritates me
