In my first post (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=14736) I asked the forum whether there was any hope for me and my beard. Today, I would like to take a little bit of time and follow up on this question as it seems that many others wonder the same. Thus, this is dedicated to those of you who just discovered this forum and ask yourself if there is any hope for you. :confused1

Yes, there is hope! At least there was some for me. Since I discovered B&B back in February a lot has changed. Although this time span measures only some months, it feels like it has added years worth of knowledge and maturity to my personal development. This website has truly changed me. :001_wub:

If you read my first post ever, you will discover what my problem was. I was a young man with a difficult beard growth, who could not find satisfaction in any of today's shaving methods. Thankfully, I found B&B. :scared:

Since then, I have learned a lot about my facial hair, mostly how to fully remove it without irritating my skin. As this was my main goal, I can state that there is hope!

In the process, of course, there were times when I questioned if the old school way was right. This question would arise whenever my performance was either not adequate or bloody. But as many B&B gentlemen say, practice is key. You will find that this is true, especially since there are many variables to your shaving technique. This forum was once again a guide on improving my practice. :thumbup1:

All in all, I must admit that I am very satisfied with where I am today. I have managed to turn a necessary evil into a sort of hobby. My shaves have improved immensely. There is a cost to all of this in the denomination of money, time, energy, and patience. However, if you are a reasonable man, you will find that the return of your investment will be just about priceless.

I consider myself still a student of the art and science that is shaving. My assortment of equipment is slowly expanding and I am sure that many here would call it tiny. But it is truly a joy to add new razors, creams, brushes, aftershaves, and so forth to your collection. I believe that slowly I am "getting it". :001_tt2:

To all those still fighting the good battle with their beard, I sincerely hope that this has been somewhat positive to you. I wish you all the best in your shaving endeavors.

Good post, Ernie. Thanks for taking the time to collect your experience. And it's true that progress in traditional shaving truly demonstrates the efficacy of practice. It's amazing how imperceptible incremental improvements will, over the course of weeks, transform the quality of the shave and the quality of time spent shaving. A great lesson to learn, and a very good payoff to boot!
