He/she was about 2.5 ft tall with a wing span of about 3.5 feet. He/she had about 5 other friends with him but out of reach with my 300mm lense.

Beautiful bird and wonderful photograph- We have a few where I live, as well as some owls- but I never get to take any photographs. The bird looks a little hungry- didn't have your small dog or cat outside to get this shot?:shifty:

I had my 60lb boxer who wanted nothing to do with it. This sparrow was screwing with that bird and he/she finally flew off. It is always funny to watch smaller birds screw with hawks... most of the time I have witnessed the hawks getting pissed and leave.

Talking about birds, would you guys believe that we had vultures over here a couple of weeks ago. And I'm not talking about the Arizona desert, but Flanders, Belgium, Europe. They were young, immature animals chased away by the birds who settled in the Spanish Pyrenees. A flock of about 100 birds was sighted in prairies all over the country.

In Yokosuka, Japan, we lived on the third floor of a dependent's housing apartment building. There were seahawks, huge suckers, six-eight foot wingspan or more, talons like grappling hooks, that flew past the window all day. My daughter's little cat would sit in the window and try to grab them through the screen. Stupid cat wouldn't have made a good mouthful for one of those birds, but she wanted one.

Hey Jason, nice shot! On my way to work this morning, I saw a mature Bald Eagle (we have a lot of them here) on top of a power pole being dive bombed by 1/2 dozen crows. Crazy crows. :out:

Beautiful shot of that beautiful bird. We had a hawk that lived in the area, but our experience was it would come into our yard, and eat the smaller birds - it was horrible to watch. We have a large sized dog and when ever the hawk showed up, I would make my dog come in.

Thanks for all the complements guys  I was actually surprised the picture turn out as well as it did. Free handing a 300mm zoom is not easy. I am still itching for them to come back so I can have a crack at them with my 17-85mm EOS lense. I am going to get closer next time so I can use my walk around lense... should produce some great pictures if I can get close enough.
