First of all, let me say again how awesome this SR brush is. Now, onward....

I thought I would shave with the best Taylor's cream first. The Rose is just a splendid cream. The scent is the very definition of intoxicating. I admit that I didn't purchase this cream for a very long time since I was concerned it would be too feminine smelling. How wrong I was! The rose is a heady, masculine fragrance, with undercurrents of cedar. Just superb. The lather is super-rich and thick, and protects better than most creams out there. Also seems to do a great job soothing the face. This is really one of the best products out there, you all owe it to yourself to pick some up.

Can't complain, I like it quite a bit. I know for sure I'll buy another brush from this company. It's very soft on the face, small, compact, and produces great lather in just a few swirls.

Here are my old brushes. The top one is a C&E and bottom a Shavemac, both about 6 years old and semi retired. I plan to use the old C&E with the CAR system that I just got today. That method looks a bit rough on the brushes.

Yes, much better all around. The Shavemac is pretty good except for the obvious issue. I may try to repair this weekend, I'll keep the forum posted.

Citrus fills the air

Another fine shave from an underappreciated Taylor's gem. The citrus is well balanced by woody undertones - very masculine. The shave is top notch - not as good as the Rose, but solid nonetheless. I don't get the drying feeling with this citrus-based cream like I do with others such as Trumpers. Good stuff. I find the lather a bit on the thicker side with this Taylor's cream - heavier than the lavender, for instance.

I've been using the after shave balm for a week already and that impressed my so much I ordered the rest of the kit. This morning I "loaded the breach" and "cut with steel". After mixing it all up I found it so slick I had a hard time holding my razor. End result, very close shave with no problems going against the grain in the neck area. Tomorrow, I'll add a little T&H cream.

Yesterday I said that the Taylor's Lemon & Lime was underappreciated. I feel the opposite about the Avocado. For me, this stuff tends to languish in the drawer. I never wake up and say, "I am psyched to shave with the Avocado today". Sure, it is a good shave. Very rich and moist lather, soapy smell. It doesn't excite, though. It is sort of like taking medicine: "My face isn't feeling so great today - I'll shave with the Avocado". I would much prefer the Rose or some of the other Taylor's line over this one.

This is the best cologne-scented cream out there, IMO. Just the right level of fragrance, and the lather/shave is superb. This is the old formulation; I have no idea how the new one is. I have the new formulation of the Mr. Taylors and I hate it (you'll see it later this week in the SOTD). This cream shaves just as great as the other Taylor's creams, and the St. James scent is wonderful.

It does. It is not as pronounced as Proraso or Tom's of Maine Refreshing Mint, but it is pleasant. It would be a nice alternative for those who find the aforementioned two to be a little overboard.

Also, Sandalwood incense burning the entire time in the bathroom during the Three Ses. I also found Lavender, Rose, and Eucalyptus incense at the Indian grocer to match to my shaves :) (Unfortunately, no Almond or Lime!)

Shave was ok, kind of burned my neck a little because there wasn't enough cream for a good second pass and I didn't feel like whipping more up. Always forget that the SMFII likes a larger amount of cream than my tiny pure badger brush. Oh, and am I the only one who thinks these Israeli blades dull a bit faster than the others?

First of all, the Euro-Gillette/slantbar combo is a match made in heaven. It is really like there is no blade in the razor.

This is the new formulation of Mr. Taylors. I LOVE the cologne, but the cream has barely any scent. I never owned the old version of Mr. Taylors, but the old version of the St. James I have is very intense. Go figure.

Strange thing is you can't find a new Sensor in the stores with just a double blade. All of the new Sensors come with a three blade cartridges, but they still sell the double blade cartridges.

The other day I was in the pharmacy and saw a Sensor Excel handle and scooped one up. I already have one but I got a new one just in case, plus I still have tons of excel blades lying around.
I think the Excel comes the closest to shaving like a double edge and once in a blue moon I try it out.:biggrin:

Best shave ever surpassed M3 a few tiny nicks but hey thats what you get when you try the 4 pass Quenron methodic and I went really rough dare devil against the grain even on my upper lip :eek:

So, I get back home after a week at a conference, where I shaved with NB cream and a B&B shave stick, both great products--but how great to be back home! Somehow, my shave was just a bit better--cleaner, smoother. Maybe I took more time, maybe I was more relaxed--whatever it was, it was simply "better."
