I now fully understand how a lot of you guys have manage to end up with enough cream, soap and alike to shave for years. I've still not finished my first ever soap (Proraso, which i will definitely be buying once i've run out) and I've now got that and 4 more creams to go through... Already I'm thinking I need more soap. And storage space. And razors. Crap :cursing:

I have an L'Occitane store where I work, when payday came there was just physically impossible to walk past it without coming out with their nice Cade soap!

You know, I'm an idiot. I've lived a few blocks from the north side location (in Chicago) of Merz Apothecary for 7 years. Went in there maybe once when I first moved in, just to look around. So now I'm on this forum, and I keep seeing references to Merz in Chicago, and I'm thinking, "Isn't that apothecary down the street a Merz? It couldn't be!" It is. I went in, and was just blown away. Now I have an actual store that I can actually go in to buy all manner of shaving stuffs.

This does not bode well for my wallet.

It stocks the whole TOBS range of creams, some vulfix, mitchells (I think it was that..) merkur DE's, a selection of brushes, Dovo straights; a particularly bad thing as I'm an SR convert and various other products. It's also near to one of the places that I work :scared:

It's not on the wiki so I'll get it added later

I wish I had that problem. If there were some decent shops down here, however, UPS and the the Postal Service would see their profits take a hit! :w00t:

It is called a "budget" you allow yourself to spend (or save for later) a certain amount of each pay check. It is "easy" "honest" (but it does work, honest)

I am lucky- the stepdaughters and mother-in-law have moved out. I took over the guest bathroom. Currently my 8 soaps, 3 aftershaves, witch hazel, bowl, two DEs and one SE take up a full two shelves. I have one more shelf for expansion before I move things onto the counter. Eight soaps and only one SE is not enough (and I plan to start with straights in December):001_smile

And here I thought I had a problem. Sounds like this behavior is normal. If only my wife would understand that.

Waiting for those Christmas gift ideas huh? :001_tongu

Do NOT start with straight or you'll start scouring eBay relentlessly for those one or two gems that no one's noticed yet. I bought one and have just finished cleaning it up before sending it out for honing and I'm already looking for more. It was the shavette that got me converted, I can't wait to use this 130 year old-ish relic that I've got back into good shape. I have enough equipment to restore probably 100 of these so I think I may just start selling them on once I've given them the necessary polishing. It'd be the first time shaving has ever actually saved me money if I make a profit... "It's so much cheaper than a gilette fusion" - my arse it is!

This is why my wife and i do. We each get an "allowance" to spend on whatever we want. Mine gets saved and spent on shaving stuff or basketball stuff or weightlifting stuff.

That's what our personal credit cards are for.

And personal bank accounts. One extra account for home stuff. I really don't understand why I and SWMBO would need to know how much money the other has and have an any kind of say on how it is spent.

I just started wet shaving about 2-3 months ago. I already have 4 de razors, 2 brushes, 3 different blades, and 3 soaps/ cremes. Needless to say my wife told me it looks like i am starting to collet.

The razors are:
Weishi shaving factory small handle de razor in a box with a mirror.
A Parker 60r, which is awesome and came with Astra Blades, love both.
A Schick Krona
A Mercur 23C Long Handle- love this one too.

Blades:
Astra - love them
Derby- not good for me
personna israeli de - really like these blades

A kit from VDH that came with a green bowl, brush and shaving soap. I like the soap and the brush but just broke the bowl.
