If this is what using shelf liner for your auction pics does to people I'm going to start pulling it out from under all my dishes. And, no, it's not even a CFM auction.

I mean, sure, it's a nice looking Senator. And, yes, it's a great shaver. But I paid less for my cased flare-tip Aristocrat!

Hah! I just got a new plastic organizer with drawers for keeping all my gear and I lined it with that stuff.

I was watching that one. I let it pass and picked up an open comb aristocrat with case a few minutes later for about same price.

Perhaps there is a shill bidder involved .. just saying, a couple of the Power Sellers seem to get many bids from low feedback buyers who have 60% + of their bids on that sellers stuff .. but never seem to win. EBay doesn't seem to care, probably because the fees go up ..

Nice. I was watching that one, too, in case it strayed into "bargain pickup" territory.

I didn't see any evidence of it on this one. The top two bidders are the ones who took it from $40 up to $97, and they're both rated over 150. The guy who won even put in a last-second cover bid after he'd taken the lead with a few minutes to go -- like he thought someone was going to snipe him out at that price.

Wow, that's crazy.
But then there was a decent 1947 Super Speed that went for about $50 a day or two ago. I paid about $10 shipped for mine (the seller liked my offer), and it seems about comparable in terms of condition.

I still think that it would have gone for more if they had placed it on top of a rock

It seems replated to me.

I always think these non-skid photo backgrounds look so creepy to me. :yikes:
Why do people use them?

Dunno. I just got over $50 for a cased '51 SS photographed on my coffee table the other night. I suspect it has more to do with how well it's photographed and more importantly who's bidding than it does what's in the background.

I would have bid $120 but I didn't like the color.:001_tt2:

What's under there could always be worse.

I was thinking that, too. A lot of the edges seem a little softer -- more rounded -- than I'd expect.

If I had to guess I'd say it's to create patterned, high-contrast reflections on the razors to help hide small finish imperfections. If you look at CFM's photos it's always white under a black mat or black under a white mat.

^^I've never noticed that!^^ It's to bad people just can't describe it how it actually is huh?
I saw this one too and even though it looks a ton better than mine, I just couldn't pull the trigger for that.
