Fellas,
Just out of curiosity, what companies do you work for, what do you do, job titles, etc (as much as you are comfortable with)?

This being my final month or so of school, I am kinda curious what all fo you fellas do in the real world!

I "sell cars like candy bars" on the Internet for Larry H. Miller Honda, in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have one partner in my department, and we are almost always the top two salesmen in the store. Unfortunately, selling cars on the internet is mostly about price, so we move a lot of volume, but don't make the gross that other salespeople make. Howver, we are treated like managers in most respects, and are left alone "to do what we do best", which is move metal. Last year we sold over 500 cars, and our General Manager was invited by Honda to speak at one of their meetings about our department.

Im Part-time doing stuff for a Satellite Telecom Company working for the

Part time Piano student, last 5 years used to practise like crazy.

Gotten the recording Engineer diploma of SAE but getting a job as a recording engineer aint lying around many jobs for that besides I focused more on the musical part after the exam hence the crazy practising 6 hours a day.

Why did the piano get a bit into the background, because I focused more becomming the Samurai , Training 3 days a week about 6-7 Hours of Aikido.

Then I went to Sweden and Hurt my Neck/shoulder pretty bad its still not healed and I actually restrain from all training now because my Sensei goes Seagal style when he sees me because I only weigh 70 Kilo its flying thru the air time  normally I wouldnt mind but not when your not 100% recoverd so im taking time to heal in the meantime hang with my Shave buddies at B&B.

Ill get back to it all you dont throw away 6 Years training and I want my Black belt !

I am a full time college student pursuing a degree in Education. I hope to teach science and/or math at the Junior High level. Before I went back to school I was an service advisor/manager at 2 different car dealerships. I finally got tired of people being mad at ME because their car broke down, and I got tired of technicians complaining to me because they actually had to work on cars, so I went back to school to get a different degree. It will be a cut in pay but I think I will be a much happier person.

I'm an academic: a professional philosopher. I work for an online University, where I teach research methods and data analysis to graduate students.

Right now I'm working in a school of criminal justice, so many of my colleagues are "intellectual cops," and so are great fun to work with. My institution has grown from 100 students to over 20,000 in just five years, and this tremendous growth has brought many rewarding challenges.

The best part of my job is working from home; I get to spend a lot of time with my three-year-old daughter.

We are a tax haven for the wealthy and currently have over 9,700M USD held in my vault. I like to spend all the money that these fools deposit on fast cars, shaving products, hallucinogenic drugs, audio-visual entertainment systems, loose women with large breasts and low morals, and private jets. We boast a beautiful coastline where all women must bathe topless. Obese women are banned from the beach. We like our water sports here. We also have a fine mountain region where snow sports are enjoyed by the wealthy few (mostly my family.) Children are encouraged to leave school at the age of eight and sweep chmineys or support the industrial effort by working in factories producing cluster bombs and other munitions for various other nations. I have 366 wives (one extra for the leap year) and 1,872 children (do not ask me for all their names, I don't know what half of them even look like.) I seized power in 1982 at the age of six in a bloody coup d'etat. I am an anaesthetist in my spare time for the world's second largest employer (the NHS, second only to the Chinese Army.)

Not many people claim to be bacteriologists anymore. That either means you've been around for a while :001_tt2: , or you happened to study under an old bacteriologist like myself.

I'm a bacteriologist/microbiologist who just finished my Ph.D. work and will be heading for more schooling in clinical microbiology in a couple of months.

In San Francisco, too. You DO eat well. I think I would put that city almost up with NYC for food in this country.

Sometime I might want to talk to you about what small firm life is like. I think I will grow weary of megafirm eventually, and I have often considered what it might be like to move to a smaller setting and eventually have my own firm.

-Mo

We definitely have some good eats in this town :thumbup1:

Being in s small firm has it has its ups and downs, but at times iit can be fun being my own boss. Feel free to email or PM me about it.

Mechanical Engineer at a relatively large OEM for LARGE compressors used in the oil industry and such. They are used in the refining process and gas transmission. I was a design engineer up until recently and now I am on the project side of things. We will see how that goes.

I work for Jabil Circuit, as an electronic process technician.

What that means is I'm a guy with electronic and software background who is in charge of designing, implmenting, and maintaining test equipment for the lines I support. I coordinate my efforts with the test engineer in charge of me.

I have to provide initial failure analysis if a unit does fial test, to verify if it's the test, the unit itself, or something else that caused it.

Another task is to also provide input on how to improve our testing of our products. Whether it is how to reduce time spent on test, how to improve our yields, or how to reduce cost in implementing a test solution.

It's mostly a desk job, but goes the whole gamut from paper shoveling to helping load 2,000lb thermal chambers onto pallets to be shipped out to some of our other facilities. Sometimes, just somtimes...I get to pull out the old soldering iron and actually make something! :smile1:

All in all, it's a pretty nice job. At the end of the day I feel my input mattered, and that's the best thing I could ask for. Nothing is worse than feeling like just another "cog in the machine".

Well, my career has been anything but your normal linear path.

I started as a Pharmacist through all of the 70's. In the 80's, I migrated to a major Building Materials Manufacturer as an Architectual Sales Rep (go figure?). There I worked myself into Management. In the 90's I joined the world of Credit Reporting with one of the 3 national Bureaus as a Vice President.

Presently, I am back home in the Midwest, as Managing Partner of a building materials distribution Branch and absolutley loving every minute of it.

I am very fortunate to have never had a job that I disliked and was always working when someone came to me with an "opportunity" (hence the non-linear path) that they though that I might be interested in.

I do wish that I had kept my Pharmacist's License current as it would be the perfect part time job when I finally slow down.

I have a faculty appointment with the S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University as a Senior Lecturer of Accounting. I spend most of my time, however, fulfilling my administrative role as Director of the Cornell-Queen's Executive MBA program (http://www.johnson.cornell.edu/academic/cqemba/index.html).

Thanks for providing a great service to the country. I've watched enough docs to know that it is incredibly hard and dangerous work....and you're obviously not in it for the tremendous pay.

Let us know when your first doc comes out. Maybe the Discovery Channel.
