We were checking out garage sales today and also an antique mall. As usual I had my eyes out for anything shaving related. At the antique mall they did have about four safety razors. I settled on the cheapest one at $3 - a Gillette and I believe the tag said C55. It's on the left and bottom in the two pics.

Struck out at garage sales until the last one when I asked them if they had any razors (Since it was an older couple). Sure enough they did and went to get something from the house. That is on the right and top of the two pics. They asked me to make an offer and I said $5 and they took that. I'm sure I could have gotten it cheaper since it was junk to them, but I'm always worried I'll insult someone in making the first offer. Any ideas what this one is?

I think I made out OK

I found the serial # on the top/right one - 728695. The lady at the garage sale said "I have one that is 100 years old" when I asked if she had any razors, however I'm pretty sure she just made that up, or is that possible?

On the bottom one, the code I see is V 1

Any assistance with identifying year would be awesome.

The one on the right is a thin-handled ball-end Old Type -- with the smooth rather than knurled ball. They're rather uncommon, and $5 is definitely a good score. The ones I've seen have all been Canadian, though I can't say they were made there exclusively.

The other looks to be an aluminum Tech. V-1 would make it first quarter '75.

Ah yes, I forgot to mention that the ball-end one said Made in Canada and I am located up here in the Great White North.

Yup, well there you are, then. Here's another thread with some other pictures of one:

Yup, looks just like mine. I do have to clean mine up as I just got it today. The handle should clean up nice, but the comb part is somewhat cooper/greenish. Probably not worth replating.
