View Full Version : Something with a mild scent

I've tried a few different scents (all but one Mamma Bear) and like them, but they can all be a little strong (my current favorite is Beau Brummell) so I'm thinking I might want something with a lighter scent.
With that said, what do you folks recommend? I don't like things that are overly floral or fruity (though MB's lime is yummy), and usually like woodsey or spicey scents.
So, what's good?

Glycerine soaps tend to be much more heavily scented than the traditional triple-milled english soaps.
I'd recommend Harris Arlington and the Truefitt & Hill Luxury Shaving Soap. Both are absolutely top-notch soaps, and have a pleasant mild citrusy aroma. The T&H soap also has some lavender in it but not enough to classify it as a lavender soap.
Triple-milled soaps are more expensive than glycerine soaps, but last many times longer, so the cost/shave is actually very reasonable.

When I think mild fragrance, I think Provence Sante and Pre de Provence. Both great soaps.

Well, if you have been using MB, most other soaps will be mild by comparison. At least milder. I would really very strongly suggest trying Honeybee Bay Rum. It is a fantastic, slightly spicy, generally wonderful scent. Very masculine, and very very nice. Pleasant winter or summer. And the lather you will get is just the best.
I would also suggest trying a milled soap or two. L'Occitane Cade comes to mind. It has a great Juniper based fragrance that is very outdoorsy. Very very mild, though. All of the Trumper soaps are great, and all pretty mildly scented. Or Harris. Arlington is a great citrus/fern (green) blend. None of those would be a wrong choice. And yes they are expensive, but not that bad, especially if you get the refill puck, instead of the bowl (especially in the case of the L'Occitane.

GFT Lime soap. Subtle, yet nice for summer.
