Hi there, I am Sparkoza, a new member to your forum :001_smile. I recently joined because I wanted to purchase a safety razor. I researched a starter DE to buy and have found the Edwin Jagger De89 seems like a very nice razor. I was wondering about blades though, my skin is very delicate and will cut easily, so I was wondering what blade I should buy. Also if you could suggest a fairly smooth brush for my skin. Also if you have a website you could suggest that is canadian it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to read, please do reply with your "2 cents"

The Italian Barber is Canadian. He carries Bolzano blades. He carries the Omega 1305, one of the softest boar brushes after a very brief break in. Problem solved!

Welcome to B&B!

A blade sampler is the best way to find out which blade suits you.

Thanks a bunch for your input binowatch, and I don't know if I will be having that kind of money to purchase a $30.00 blade sampling kit.

You can purchase less expensive blade samplers. Check some of the vendors on this site.

Welcome to B&B!

A razor blade sample pack is the way to go when starting. On where to shop, I would suggest this page: http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/index.php?title=Category:Canada_Shaving_Supplies

Welcome to B&B. Sounds like you have already made a good razor choice.

If you are looking for a cheaper brush, you can find them at Shoppers Drug Mart among all the shaving goodies (assuming there is one around where you live). They are Omega brand and go for less than $15.

If you don't want a blade sampler, maybe try some Astras or Red Pack Personnas - these are both mild. Though, I would echo the idea of getting a sampler pack, they are fun and practical.

(BTW, Binowatch meant to say Semogue 1305)

Everyone has offered fine advise. I'd have to +1 this post though as it is what helped me when I started the most. Finding the blade that fits your face.

Hope that helps.

The soap or cream you use will be just as important as the razor and blades. Make sure you start with something that will produce a high-quality lather. Many people start with Proraso.
