I won this Sheridan on E-Bay and received it today.

Check out who I sniped to get it, Saved one from a fate "Better then New" He's sniped me several times in the past so it's nice to return the favor.
The razors is in fine shape, the plating on the head is in very good condition, the barrel of the handle is copper so all the plating must have worn off?
This is my 1st opened comb TTO and I'm looking forward to giving it a go on my face and head. I've just recently gotten a really good feel for the blade angle. Pivoting razors really take away the feel and control that you have with a fixed head razor. Probably why 2 whole generations of American men (except us of course) don't know how to shave themselves properly. Bob.

Yes the gold plating has worn off. Should be a mean shaver though. The Sheratons are essentially gold plated Regent Techs and those things shave like nobody's business. I have a Sheraton that I haven't shaved with yet but I'm sure it'll faceglide like a dream.

Since my technique has improved I've been revisiting razors that I didn't like the first time around. The Gillette New model which I didn't like when I got it 2 years ago now gives me great shaves and I just gave my Aristocrat another try (notched bar, no date code) and this time around it's shaving me fine while before I thought it was harsh. I think experience has given me a much better feel for controlling the blade angle.

I'm favouring the open combs more and more. Although I do have a few bar combs that do a great job as well. I've been shaving with my British Flare Tip Rocket that I bought from Don this week and it's awesome. I'd rank it up there with my Regent Tech. My technique is improving too although I still consider myself a DE neophyte. I never thought the day would come when I'd invest so much time and energy in shaving, learning the proper techniques, becoming something of a DE connoisseur in my own small way, collecting and using said DEs...MORE and MORE of them, and finally becoming a part of a wonderful online community where I could discuss those DEs with people who suffer the same affliction!

Ain't life grand and thank the Lord for the good things the internet brings!!

In the past couple of months I've pulled out razors that I didn't like, for "one last shave" before sending them to the BST forum. For three of those, "one last shave" turned into "gotta shave with this thing everyday for 3 weeks." For me, I think it's at least two things: better feel for the blade angle, and better lather & beard prep.

Cooncat did you ever sell that hide peeling Barbasol? I was online in another forum (not a shaving forum) and someone had started a thread about DE razors. That piqued my curiosity and I began reading. Midway through the thread this guy started talking about this razor that he had and that it would peel the skin off your face if you weren't careful with it...guess the razor?
I thought about you when I read that.

Yes I still have the Barbasol and I acquire 2 more. 1 is just like the 1st one a 2 piece razor kinda like a Merkur HD the 2nd one looks the same except it's a 3 piece, the handle fits into a socket in the head while the 2 piece version the handle is flanged into the head. The head profile is flatter without the step that the 2 piece has, so the 3 piece is not as aggressive and is a good shaver. Also it doesn't say Barbasol on the knob ring. It looks the same but I don't know if it's a later or earlier model. Bob.
