I need a good anti dandruff/psoriasis shampoo. Head and sholders and the "store" brands dont work at any level of strength. Neutragena Pine tar used to work pretty good but man that stuff stinks and stays with you all day long. Not to metion i havent seen it around here in a while.

Thanks for the help

Chagrin Valley Shampoo Bar - Neem, Clay Bar, Nettle. All worked for me. I had dandruff/psoriasis my whole life.

I've also tried to incorporate more fruits, veggies, salmon, and nuts as well.

My latest experiment is washing my hair with lukewarm and cool water only. Usining a boar bristle brush once dry. So far so good. I'm at about 6 days. No dandruff, my hair is a little oily but it just looks like I have some mild product in my hair. I actually like how it feels and the managablilty.

Cool thanks i checked out there sight they even have shave soap.

I think I will try a sample bar of each one you recommended. I may even rotate them with each hair wash. Thank you!

I have tried T-gel it helps for a while then loses effectiveness and I have to switch. When I go back to it it helps again.

If none of the 'store brands' seem to work...don't waste anymore of your money...get a appointment / consultation with your local dermatologists about your hair condition. :yesnod:

Agree with the idea of trying a shampoo bar.

The other thing that has really helped is applying 2-3 drops of pure jojoba oil to the fingers, then massaging that into the scalp. I do this is in the morning first thing. it only sits in there for about 5 minutes, while the water heats up for my shower, etc.

If my scalp gets itchy, I apply a few more drops at night before bed.

Using this method I have been able to get myself off the anti-dandruff shampoos and my hair and scalp both seem healthier than they have ever been.

I am very fortunate that H&S works really well for me. I have been using it for over 20 years, it works very well but dries my hair though.

Few of my friends swear by Tea Tree Oil shampoos. People on this site also think that it helps with dandruff or other conditions. I have been considering to try the Tea Tree shampoos. You might want to try the tea tree oil shampoo as well.

I dont think my insurance will pay for a dermatologist. I believe the view that as cosmetic or whatever excuse they use not to pay.

mine wont pay for cosmetic things, but dermatologists do a lot more then that and they cover it. skin cancer, mole removal, stuff like that. Call the ins and see, you may need to get a referral from your primary care physician.

I got my chagrin valley samples today. I tried the neem & tea tree bar first.
I dont know how it will do for the dandruff but it makes my hair and scalp feel awesome!
Im gonna give the shampoo bar samples an honest go. Even if they dont work on the dandruff I will probably chose one to use regularly cause the do make everything feel nice. If they dont work I will give the dermatologist a shot "if" my insurance will pay for it. If not I guess I will live with it.

Try taking a Omega 3 fish oil tablet or eating some more fats in your diet. I never had much dander except in the winter time till about 5 years and go when we switched to a healther diet and my dander went wild. My Dr put me on a Omega 3 pill 1000 mg a day and my dander went away. As always YMMV.

In the past I used T-gel 2-3 times a week and it kept me flake free.

PS get a Boar Hair Brush and brush your hair briskly for a minute or so every day before you shower. Also try a good conditioner. I had to play around on that one until I found Sauve 2 in one shampoo and contitioner because the rest made my hair feel greasy.
