Happy Spring everyone.
We are excited to announce that we have upgraded our on-line store (http://malaspinasoapfactory.ca/oscommerce/index.php). The new format has a bunch of new features including a permanent shopping cart so you can build your order and check what your full cost is going to be with shipping without actually having to place an order. You can also leave reviews on the products, track your order history so if you forget which fragrance you bought you can always check it.
As a bonus to our B&B customers any orders over $25 (not including shipping) will receive a sample of their choice (Shaving soap, shaving cream, or after-shave balm) in your preferred fragrance. Just note in the comments area what you would like us to include.
Just a reminder to everyone who wants to order Father's Day Gifts all orders should be placed by June 3rd so we can make sure it gets to you in time. The exception to this is our customers in BC & Alberta, you can order right up to June 10th.
Thank you everyone for your continued support and kind reviews.
Cheers

Nice website. I've always meant to give the shave cream a try.
Do you have any descriptions of the scents?
I admit I didn't look around too hard for them.

Hi , Linda. The new sit looks good. I find it much easier to navigate. But I have to ask about a new ingredient in your shaving soaps -- eggs?!? I would be very interested to hear thhe explanation/reasoning for inluding that ingredient

Thanks for adding that. It will make selecting products much easier.
What would you recommend for my wife for shaving?
Malaspina
05-04-2011, 10:59 AM
KarlMaddensNose - Thank you for your question. We have included egg in our solid shave soap as it gives additional body to the lather as well as adding moisturizing properties to the soap itself. One of my favourite hand & body soaps also has egg in it, I love the richness of the lather.
Marc - for the ladies we offer other fragrances including:
Lilac Blossoms
Poison dupicate
Chanel #5 Duplicate
Mango Papaya
Cucumber Melon
Vanilla Bean
Violet
Opium duplicate
Cranberry
As for which soap, it's going to be a matter of whether she prefers creams of hard soaps.
Thanks for your questions.

I am thrilled to introduce a new fragrance to you. This one is called Country Gent and it is a blend of Leather, Tobacco, Almond & Sandalwood. Rich and smoky this makes me think of sitting in my grandfather's study in his favourite leather chair.
It is available in all of the shave creams, pre-shave oil and Tamanu After-Shave Balm.

Country Gent sounds like a fantastic scent!
I contacted you through your website a few minutes ago, but I was curious as to the size/weight of your hard shaving soap pucks?
Malaspina
05-13-2011, 10:14 AM
Hi Frank,
Thank you for your inquiry. My pucks average 5 oz and all are made Cold Process (from scratch).
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Cheers

Linda, for the solid soaps in stainless bowl, I'm only seeing 2 fragrance options available in the drop down box. Is that all that is available right now?

Hi Drybonz - thanks for pointing that out to me. I've added the rest of the fragances available.

Well now we went and done it. We have opened up a section in our store for lady's shave soaps/creams. It's called Salish Diva and all the formulations are the same, but the scents and packaging are feminine. I hope you'll stop in and take a look.
Cheers

English Leather fragrance has just arrived in and is not available in all of our shaving soaps & creams. Just a reminder to those of you who like a strong menthol hit we have it available in our Chilled Lime and we can add it to any other scent you like.
I have also changed suppliers on my Green Irish Tweed duplicated (aka Tweed) due to the amount of sensitivities there were to the fragrance oil and I have it on good advice that this one is far less of a sensitizer.
Cheers

Linda,
IS there a possibility of shave sticks in the future?
Malaspina
05-27-2011, 01:21 PM
Hi Stephen - yes I am just waiting on the containers to arrive. At this point I have a travel size of 1 oz which I am just getting ready to list. The new size will be 2 oz and once they arrive I will be getting soap made up right away to fill them.
This is what the existing ones look like:
http://i424.photobucket.com/albums/pp328/lindaluf/DSC00561.jpg
I currently have these travel sizes in Malaspina Man & Harwood Meadows. The shave soap is Triple Delight.
I will get them listed this afternoon for those who are looking for the travel size shave stick - refills are also available for these. They will be selling for $9.95 each which includes a refill. The refills will sell for $3.00 each.
Thanks for asking Stephen - your timing is pretty good... :thumbup1:

Linda,
I feel like I'm bombarding you with questions, but I'm almost done my pre-purchase "research".
Have you posted a description of the fragrance you settled on for your Dragon's Blood scented products? I remember you mentioned that it would be a pepper-based scent. Can you eloborate, or at least point me in the direction of an existing description? Many thanks.

Not a problem, I love answering questions. I have had to rethink the ingredients in Dragon Zen since Black Pepper is not recommended for the facial area. So I'm still playing with it. I do have Dragon's Blood which is a standard fragrance oil and the description is it can be classified as a autumn-like warm, woody and earthy scent, with notes of amber, vanilla, sandalwood, light tones of powdery musks and hints of asian florals to bring out subtle spice undertones. This fragrance is also known as Asian Spice to some so I do have it listed as that on the fragrance list as well.
gtoface - I can understand your concern, if you would like to contact me directly with your address I can see if there is a less expensive method of getting this to you. Most people do tend to order a few things as once so the shipping makes more sense. Thank you for addressing it.
Cheers

Because of the uncertainty of whether or not Canada Post is going to strike, all orders for the time being will be sent out via Fed Ex with no extra charge to my customers. The last thing I want is for people to have product sitting in limbo somewhere.

As one of my customers said this week - this has been the longest February in remembered history....
With the summer approaching I will start being on the road doing fairs and such on weekends so stay tuned I might be coming to a town near you :w00t:
Since I will be home during the week there will be no effect on shipments. During the strike we will continue to use alternative means to get your orders to you and I would like to thank all of you who had enough trust in me to get orders to you, that you made those orders. You guys are the best!
Cheers

And I want to thank you for offering alternative shipping means. My package arrived in good time and I was thrilled to be able to get goods shipped to me from the other side of the country in this time of postal labour dispute. By the way, I was completely knocked out by the latest round of goodies -- Malaspina Man and Hardwood Meadows Shaving Soap Sticks, Country Gent AS Balm, Energy Goat's Milk Lotion... all excellent products in outrageously good scents. I'm still settling into the tooth cleanser... I like it mixed with trad toothpaste. And thanks so much for the Jojoba Cream Soap tester. I can't recall the scent/fragrance it was, but it was the freshest smelling soap I've ever used, and I generally prefer liquid soap/cleanser, so it is something I'd be interested in if you put it into your regular offerings.

I am so pleased that you got your package as quickly as you did. It looks like we're going to get a break with the strike and have service back tomorrow.... we can keep our fingers crossed.
The cream shower soap will be available shortly - the fragrance was Dude! (aka Extremely Sexy Man type).

I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we went through this.
