Greetings everyone. I am a newbie here and fairly new convert to the DE world. I am also hoping to venture into the straight razor world soon and was lucky enough to have a friend of mine give me a beautiful Filarmonica #14 razor that was "in the bottom of my drawer for years." Thank goodness for nice friends!

I was at a yard sale this weekend and scored some razors and was curious if I got a decent deal. One "straight" razor is a modern barbers razor with the replaceable blades so I am faily confident of it's relative value, the other two are shown here:

An Ever-Ready SE razor:

and a Gillette gold colored safety razor

I paid $20 for the entire lot and was curious if I scored a decent deal. I have a Gillette Safety Speed and know how to figure the age of it, but, I have no idea how to judge the vintage/age of this Gillette razor. Anyone with info, feel free to chime in. I do know I think this shaver shaves WAYYYY better than the vaunted safety speed.

Thanks for looking and for any input.

Dunno about the value of your items. But... welcome to the B. Is the sweet part of the desert near Joshua Tree? I like it there!

Thanks for the welcome Eric. I am on the opposite side of the desert from Joshua Tree (bout 70 miles) but I used to work there and think the scenery there IS stunning!

Love the texas coffin company razor. Being as how I was born there I am drawn to anythnig Texas related like a moth to flame. If you ever decide to get rid of it, I would love to take it off your hands.

For $20 you did just fine on those. That Texas Coffin Co. razor is cool. Glad to see they are going to some one who can appreciate them.

Great score! The Ever-Ready is known as the 1914 since it was patented on March 24, 1914 which is stamped on the back of the head. It's nickname is the Little Lather Catcher, and is a great, great razor.

The Everready is worth about 15-20 cased, the advertising print could add up to 20 for a collector
The gillette tech is in great condition and is worth 12-15 on a good day

Thank you Ken.

I need to find a local place to get some single edge blades. After all the cleaning I put into the Ever-Ready, I feel need to use it at least once!!

Hey Ian I am assuming you are referring to my other post when I joined. Nevertheless, here are the pics of the Filarmonica my friend gave me.

the gold Gillette razor you got is a Gillette Tech. It's a nice razor. They made billions of them, so they are relatively cheap. A Tech in really good shape usually sells for between 10 and maybe 20 bucks.

Great razor for beginners, to be sure.
