For as long as I've been straight shaving, I've been using only disposable blade straights. I'm at the point where I get really great shaves using any of my Feathers, Kai's, or Parkers, but I've yet to use a "regular" straight.

A good friend of mine has let me take a couple of shave ready regular straights, and I'm going to use them for my next several shaves. I'll admit, I'm sold on the performance and ease of use of my Feathers and Kai's, but to be fair I think I should experience the other side of straight shaving.

I'm sure that even though these straights are shave ready, they won't meet the sharpness of my Feathers, Kai's or Parker's, :thumbdown but I'll report back on how things turn out. :001_rolle

I tried it too but after getting hooked on the feathers light saber sharpness and the convenience I found I preferred the feather AC route. I have a couple of traditional straights that I break out once but they haven't hooked me. Good luck.

Hmmm. I was contemplating picking up a feather ac, but maybe I should just be happy with all my straights, hones and strops...I would hate for them to keep my DEs and SEs and Injectors company in the last drawer in the back.

I just tried a Parker for the first time tonight. While I did appreciate the effortless sharpness (it'll make an excellent travel piece), I didn't appreciate jabbing myself with the corner of the blade a couple times. I told myself to keep that difference in mind but I'm apparently not a good listener.

I think you'll appreciate the maneuverability of an actual straight.

Good Luck with it, though I am sure you will find the shave goes well. Now is a good time to try it out before you get addicted to your new Feather SS.
