I sold off some really excellent Case Family razors earlier this year and had my usual regrets. My razors that remain in my possession are for the most part from across the pond and woefully short on representation from American Steel. I ended that drought today with the arrival of the Case "CHROMIC" Tested XX 5/8 Bradford, PA jewel. Photographs do not do this razor justice. The fit and finish is really fantastic. I realize this is a bit of a "vanity post" but this is a Case razor I had only seen before in price guides and never in person. I'm very pleased with this eBay purchase because as we know, they often surprise on the downside. This one really impressed me.:thumbup1:

I love it Mike!

Razors from this "period" near the tail end of the straight razor era are my favorites, I have a few NOS condition ones which I suspect were some of the last to be mass produced! Eg: 50s-60s.

I bet it will be one of your best shavers!

Nice!! I had set a snipe on that razor, but decided I was happy with my Case's Ace and 132 Red Imp. Besides, I'm trying to cut back. :001_rolle

Fantastic razor. You will, of course, let us know how it shaves?

I find the "Tested XX" label on the scales intriguing. Excuse my comment but I can't help but wonder if that means:

XX as in Kiss :ladysman:
XX as in a Female Razor :biggrin1:
XX as one step away from XXX
XX as in 20
?? must be something else, as I have seen it on the tang of older razors

Was this razor really of 50'/60's Vintage? It looks great.

I think the "XX" means double tempered steel. It is also on many of their pocket knife blades.

That makes sense. Thanks for the input.
