Not being a great fan of face lathering, I've been experimenting lately with lathering Mama Bear's beloved Dublin Tweed in my Dirty Bird scuttle. Results thus far have been very, very good.

What I'm doing is soaking a boar brush and adding a little water to the top of the soap to sit while I'm in the shower. I then shake the brush a little, and swirl on the top of the soap. As soon as a creamy protolather starts to form (about 30 sec), I continue swirling for one minute. I then whip up the lather in the scuttle, adding water as I go, until I get the right consistency.

Viola! Nice, warm, thick cushiony lather, and the whole bathroom smells like Dublin Tweed.:tongue_sm

Ya could do worse...

I do the same thing. It works great and Mama Bear is my favorite soap.

I never add any water to MB soaps (or any other). Dry puck, wet brush squeezed so it's not dripping. 20-30 seconds loading brush, then a few minutes building lather. Just my 45 cents (inflation)

+1. exactly what i do. i've only had the MB for about a week, but it's the same method i use and did in fact tonight when my 6y old wanted to shave...his soap of choice tonight....Mama Beary Lime & Ice.

soaked brush, shook it out a bit, lathered on MB soap for 20sec or so, then whipped it up in the scuttle for about a minute (maybe less). he did a 2 pass shave and we had plenty left over. it was his first shave with the scuttle and he loved the warm lather.

this stuff lathers up very easilty, but i find it's not a thick lather like RazoRock or Malaspina or TOBS which i find lather up nice and thick.

he kept sniffing and going "aaaaahhhh" with the lime MB soap. quite funny :biggrin1:

Too cute. I agree on the thickness of MB lathers. The triple milled make for a richer, thicker lather, and tend to lather up easier, but, IMO, don't give a better shave. I find that any of the better soaps give me pretty much the same shave closeness and comfort. And MB soaps just smell so good.
