This was an experiment in use of a wide open lens. The limited depth of field resulted in everything in the background going quite soft. I like the effect in this picture. Straight scan from film, some "dust motes" cleaned up.

Any thoughts?

Thoughts on what?

Quality of the picture?? It's beautiful. Woth a frame and a place on a wall IMHO.

Theory of Depth of Field? Very useful tool at times, but can be annoying in low light.

Here's the way I tell people to understand depth of field.

You have 2 glasses, and each holds 8 oz. One is 6" tall (a Mojito glass), hence it's very narrow, the other is short and squat, let's say 3" tall.

The narrow glass represents a "tight" aperature, and the height of that glass represents the depth of focus. Apply the same thinking to the short fat glass.

Thanks very much for your comment, I may buy a frame at that!
