Any one on the B&B have any experience or want to post their thoughts on the S&W 442 hammerless .38 SPL +?
I have carried mine for over a year now and I like mine. I found that once I got the feel of the trigger and gun I like it.

Great gun and even a better number for a CAR!

Carried the near-identical 642 on and off over the years.
Excellent piece with practice. Load Speer Gold Dot 135 grain, it was specifically designed for that gun.

I am thinking you live in the U.S.. In Canada all you get to carry is a wood tick.

I have one of the Scandium lite models, cannot remember the model number.
It's great for pocket carry, nothing to snag and does not weight pants down, and with proper in pocket holster is unnoticable.
The problems, when you shoot it recoil is very strong due to light weight. I prefer a much heavier gun for shooting. My wife has a stainless chief's special which is much more pleasant to shoot. I also prefer the hammer for single action shooting, not that there might be time in a situation requiring use.

Good stuff! I have a S&W 637, and while I like it a lot, I would have picked the 642/442 if it weren't for the awesome deal I got in my 637. At first I didn't like the "hammerless" guns and thought they were ugly. But when carried and used as intended, I think they are a much better choice than the exposed hammer gun.
And I would suggest using Crimson Trace grips if you haven't already got them. They work great on my gun!

I started out with an all-steel 649, which was a lint magnet and in the front pocket made me look very happy to see people.
The 642/442 is as light as i'll go to remain carry-able yet also shoot for practice. I prefer small autos in that role, but the J-frame, WITH PRACTICE is still a viable tool.

I carry a 649 everyday. A little heavy compared to other things on the market, but works great. Chewing on the idea of a new LC9.
