It's an Omega 48 with what looks like faux badger hair and a cheesy fake metal handle.

Is it really a boar ? The tips look very white and are quite soft. I just may keep it and see how he performs.
It's certainly large enough. The knot at the handle measures about 30mm and it's quite a handfull.

It has the original case too. This might make a good travel brush, all for $5.00

definately looks like boar... and not too sure if its an antique, the same brush is still in production:
http://www.shoeboxshaveshop.com/omega-20248--pro-model--banded-artificial-boar--the-big20248.html could be an early production maybe someone else can chime in

I saw that one and it sure looks the same. Other than the number being 20248 vs 48.

The vendor had bought out an old mom & pop grocery and this was part of the inventory.

That's not a bad looking brush, and that $5.00 is easy on the wallet.

Looks like you got a good deal. :thumbup1:

Well, this brush is the best $5.00 I have ever spent. On a whim, I used it and it surprised me in how soft it is and how well it cranked up the lather.
I stopped mid lather and had to take a look at it to confirm that I was really using this ugly beast.

Even more surprising, I plan to keep it as my token boar and put it into my rotation.

It certainly will be my travel brush since if I lose it, no big deal.

Great find and put it to work. I scored 2 Ever-readys that had been used very little and I got the pair for 10 bucks. I use them all the time.

I think you are now a boar man! Omega professional boar brushes are quite soft to start, an get softer while retaining similar backbone.
