Solid choices. I recently got my hands on some Keiko Oliban. It was pleasant, but nothing really special IMO.

You really can't go wrong with Amouage, but I haven't tried all 3 of those.

Parfum D'habit is one I'm really wanting to try. I'm interested to hear how you feel about the powerhouse!

LuckyScent is an excellent resource. I've found the staff to be most helpful. Turnaround is good too. Buying samples isn't cheap, but it's fast and effective! You get what you want when you want it.

Parfum D'Habit is excellent and bottle worthy IMO. I burned through my sample of that stuff fast and have been contemplating a bottle for awhile.

Looks like some very nice stuff. Be careful of that Amouage--if you like it, you're going to have to buy it.

Does Luckyscent have Knize Ten in stock now? I think that's one that will be nice to own. I use it much more than I expected I would the first time I tried it. It's become one of my favorites.

Knize Ten rocks. Thanks to this thread, tehtimeh and a Basenotes thread, I just ordered some TPC samples.

Nostalgia is an odd cookie. Definitely not one to appeal to the masses. It does evolve very much over the time you wear it.

I know. If money were no object, I'd already own Dia Man and Epic Man.

Fortunately, I ended up not liking Tribute attar as much on subsequent wearings as I did the first time.

Knize Ten rocks. a

The first time I tried it I didn't give it enough of a chance. I'm looking forward to trying it again. This time I'll brace myself for the opening.:scared:

Knize Ten is a grower. It changes so much even in the bottle. Sometimes more leather and sometimes I notice more amber. It's good stuff.

I couldn't stand Ten the first couple of times. Now, I don't think I could do without it! That stuff grows on ya. Umm.. not literally.. :001_smile

I neither liked or disliked Knize ten the first time I tried it. It was just kind of "there". I really liked the leathery notes in it, but the powdery notes turned me off.

It is definitely a grower as these fellas have mentioned. I kept coming back to it over and over. While it's not one of my top favorites, I have come to really like it and appreciate the complexities of it. It is a great scent. Give it time.

Now the question becomes which one to wear tonight, to a semi-fancy event.

Thoughts? They'll need to be quick.

I have to admit I'm at a loss to describe Gold Man. It's very different from anything I've smelled, and I really don't recognize the notes (which I'm generally not that great at describing anyway). I did like it, however, aside from a few seconds at the beginning spent thinking "whoa, why am I wearing my mom's perfume?" Based on one wearing, I wouldn't rate it as high as some other Amouage scents I've tried.

Yesterday - Knize Ten. I have to tell you guys that I was getting a strong urinal deodorizer scent from this one for the first couple of hours. (Maybe country club urinal deodorizer rather than stadium urinal deodorizer.) The drydown was not bad but was very faint. I'm never sure how much to apply with non-spray samples, so I was very judicious.

I tried a little of the Parfum d'Habit on my arm last night. This one may have potential. It seems to have a lot of what I've liked in things like Creed Royal English Leather and K10, without the aspects I find off-putting

So, Amouage Silver Man today. I like it.

According to Amouage, the notes are as follows:

Top notes: plum, bergamot, mandarin, orange blossom

Heart notes: jasmine, rose, orchid, ylang-ylang, heliotrope

Base notes: amber, musk, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver, frankincense

I can't discern all the individual notes, but the plum and what I guess is the bergamot are very prevalent at first and seem like they will overwhelm the whole fragrance, but there is a mild powdery element that mutes them a bit. Not Hammam Bouquet powdery; much more subdued. The fragrance has a very cool (as in temperature) feel to it.

I'm getting great longevity from it. Now, almost sixteen hours after applying it, I'm smelling some mildly odd, mildly synthetic, but not really unpleasant notes. Edit: maybe not synthetic; just unidentifiable.

It reminds me somewhat of Silver Mountain Water, and not just because of the name.

Definitely looking forward to finishing my sample of this one.
