Hi, guys.

I hope all is well.

Shawn, Tony and I have been talking about getting together with a bunch of B&Bers again!

So far, the plan is April 9th at Habana (http://www.habanaaustin.com/) on South Congress in Austin. As you may have guessed, it's a great little Cuban restaurant. My wife's father came to America from Cuba in the 70s and says that they have the best Cuban food he's had not made my his mom. :thumbup1:

They have a nice outdoor dining area, too. We usually try to meet for an early lunch, so let's start the bidding at 11am.

Here's what we have so far:

April 9, 2011
11:00 AM
Habana Restaurant

Who's in? :detective:

It should be a great time. Just like every other time we get together. :biggrin1:

AAAARRRRGGGHHH!!!!

Make it the 16th and I'll be there. SWMBO's birthday is the 3rd, but because of her work we can't celebrate until the 9th.

Argh! My daughter's best friend's birthday party is the 16th and my wife has an appointment that afternoon....:thumbdown

Sullybob

You guys want to push it back to the 23rd?

texquill
03-28-2011, 07:50 PM
I plan to be there; however, although my CPA practice is now pretty much limited to businesses and old friends, there's always the possibility that my ox may become stuck in a ditch the weekend before personal tax returns are due.

Is anyone else from the DFW area thinking about attending?

Mr. Scruffy

Put me down as tentative for the 9th. Habana is great restaurant. I'm thinking pollo y arroz.

Bump puh-dee bump, bump!

We'd love to have a bunch of folks show up!

Are any SWMBOs coming? I think Mrs. Spivey would have a hard time passing up some Cuban food....

texbilly

If it's firmly on the 9th, I'll have to pass - my daughter's birthday party is that day. :bored:

Damn.

So, in addition to me, we have Sullybob, texquill, ldphillips, Austin and cessnabird all in.

That sounds like a good group to me. The last time I was there, they had added an al a carte option. We could possibly eat "family style," if everyone brings cash. If any of you guys haven't had Cuban food, we should think about this option so that we can enjoy a sampling. Thoughts?

I'm a definite "maybe". Not sure I'm up for the drive from San Antonio. We'll see how it goes on Saturday morning.

That's not THAT bad of a drive. It's less than a mile north of 71...you can do it!

You Gents have fun while I help manage 15 or so 2nd grade girls riding ponies and jumping on the (new) trampoline. Hey wait, how 'bout ya'll come to my place!! :001_rolle

Unfortunately, the inflow of client source documents hasn't kept up with the outflow of time between "rat now" and April 18 (the income tax filing date). I'm having to break a long-standing rule about not working on weekends during tax season - Saturday the 9th is now a scheduled workday for this old beancounter.

Y'all enjoy your Moros con Christianos and your arroz con pollo, and drink a mojito or cuba libre for me!

Feel free to bring whatever you would like to. I'm not sure if I have anything to bring this time, except for my new coticule.

There's usually a bit of "show and tell" time. :tongue_sm

Gentlemen,

It's been too long. Let's do this again. I've spoken with Tony and Shawn already. Who else is in?

I'm game for just about anything, but I have an idea: Texas Chili Parlor ( http://www.cactushill.com/tcp/menu/default.htm ). Sign the waver. Eat the XXX Chili. Last man standing wins.

There's another twist to this one: It will likely be my last Austin Meet-Up. We're moving to Nebraska in June.

I'd really like to see the Austin group again as we always have a really great time.

I spoke with Tony yesterday and it looks like he's at work until 8pm.

Do we want to go ahead with Friday at 5pm or reschedule?

I don't want to wait until 8. If you want to reschedule to accommodate Tony, it's fine with me. Otherwise 5 on Friday is good.

I'm fine either way.

Please don't muck up the works on my account. You guys get it together and I'll do my best.

Tony, what day are you available? I am not opposed to changing the day so we can all get together.

Sundays are the best days for me, but I'm in the minority since I'm not a churchgoer. My work schedule is kind of bollocks at the moment, as I'm pretty much unavailable Thurs, Fri, and Sat evenings.

As much as I'd like to see you guys, please don't fuss on my account.

Depending on everyone else, Sunday at 1 p.m. works for me as well.

I cannot make it this Sunday, but the 15th at 1pm might work. I'll have to see about a babysitter.

I probably won't reply again, but I *am* watching the thread. Since I think I may be the only one in on this thread who is new here, just go ahead and settle on the particulars, and I will attend if I can. None of y'all really know me, so my absence won't really be an issue. I'd much rather that those of you who do know each other be able to get together.

Cheers,

Mark

Works for me. Tomorrow at 5pm it is.

I'm sorry for being so wishy-washy on this. See you tomorrow! I'm the bearded one.

Don't worry; it won't bite, and I still shave some of my neck.

It would nice to get a head count.

Looks like I'm in although it could be a bit past 5:00 for me, depending on how the end of the work day goes.. OK to bring spouses?

Dr. Spivey will be in attendance. I understand that Austin is planning on bringing the Mrs. Austin. It looks like 9-10 for the headcount.

I included her in my calculation. It will be 10 if Mark brings a lady.

Looks like I'm gonna have to catch y'all next time. Another obligation has come up.

Have a great evening though. I guess if this is just an annual thing, see you next year.
