too much to handle for my Simpson's Special?? I believe I am do everything right here, but I feel like the Soap is controlling the brush and not the other way around. I get a nice foam lather(which is expected), but most of it is adhering to the brush and not coming off on my face. Another words, creamy nice lather in bowl and on brush but not when applying to face...Anyone else experience this?

Never experienced this with Mama Bear's. Sounds like the brush might be the culprit, not the soap.

Sounds like you aren't loading the brush enough. Swirl it on the soap longer with moderate pressure and see if that helps. I usually do about 10-15 seconds depending on the soap and brush

Never had this problem with Mama Bear's. I have experienced that certain scents are a bit harder to lather than others (Creme Brulee is an example), but no problem having it stick on the brush.

If there is plenty of lather in the bowl, why not just "scoop" it up with your brush, instead of trying to get the lather to permeate it?

Thanks- I feel like maybe Im getting too much lather(is that possible:lol:)?
-The brush is covered with so much lather, that its not easy to swirl around face. Make sense? I dont have this issue with Proraso or AOS SS...

until you get the hang of it, throw out the first bit of lather, it may be bubbly.. and then work the lather up again. It should be like whipped cream.

Better yet, don't toss it, paint it on your face. I do this and think it gives a bit of a head start on moisturizing your skin and whiskers. It also uses up just the right amount of water to allow the rest of lather to build better. I do this with all my soaps, not just MB.

It has to move from your brush to your face, there is more friction created on your rough face, it has to move from the brush (unless lather its too thin)

have you ever had a paint brush that did not transfer paint, no

and thats just how it is

That's what I do, too. I leave it on while I build up more lather, say for about a minute or so. A quick rinse and then I seriously lather up my face.

Ok, So my problem isnt lathering anymore with this product. Due to Sue's suggestion, I get a nice rich creamy whipped cream lather...My problem is I think it is just way too much for my Simpson's special to handle. Ive been bowl lathering and cant quite successfully apply the soap from bowl/brush to my face. The brush is just paralyzed by the weight of the lather. I can take the cream with my hand and apply...What am I doing wrong here?
PS. Ive now grown to appreciate the scent of this soap

Try face lathering and see if that's any better. Sounds like you might be loading too much.

There's also the upside down lathering trick from Mantic.
Vid is on Youtube.

I use that with MB, it works perfect.

Right. Migrate from the bowl and begin 'face lathering'. Should be just the ticket...

You really lost me on that one, chicago. What do you mean "the brush is paralyzed"?

+1...ain't no Simpsons ever been scared of a soap!

All kidding aside, though, I just don't get it. You can't get the lather on to your brush? Any chance for pics here? I'm a bit baffled by what you are describing.

LOL. Perhaps it was a bad analogy. I just feel like the brush has way too much water and lather on it that the hair will not do what I want it to. What I think is happening is I have too much water in the brush(if thats possible) and its basically making the soap adhere too much. I will keep working on it.

Im getting the lather on the brush, just not off the brush...I will do my best to post a pic next time I use it. Like I said in the previous post...I think I just have way too much water as I am not shaking much if any out

Is the Simpson's a big floppy badger?? You might want to try a boar or at least something stiffer.. don't hurt me, I don't know enough about brushes, I just know stiff ones seem to work better with soap and big ones with creams..

Still a bit confusing, but getting closer.
Note that I'm using a Vulfix 2235 Super Badger, which I think is generally considered to be somewhat soft and floppy.

After you soak your brush for 5 minutes or more, in hot tap water, squeeze most of it out; not squeeze dry, jut a gentle squeeze so it's not dripping any more. Try squeezing the knot with your thumb and fingers to make it a bit more compact, then gently, not pressing too hard, swirl it around on top of the soap til you get a good load of soap, maybe 30-40 seconds (I only do this for about 20-30 seconds but ymmv), pouring any excess soapy water into your lathering bowl, mug, scuttle whatever.

Once your brush is loaded, go to the lathering bowl and start swirling it around, scraping the brush every 10-15 seconds to let the watery lather back into the bowl then go back to building lather as above. Apply some of the watery lather to face to get rid of some water, then back to lather building (this works for me as a kind of pre-shave treatment). It can take several minutes to get a good lather going. You may want to dip just the tips of the brush in hot water a couple of times as you are building the lather up. By now there should be a pretty fair amount of lather in the bowl, not just on the brush, so that you can kind of scoop it up on the brush and paint it on your face.

fwiw if you face lather, ignore everything I said. Hope this helps at least a bit.

are you trying to collect ALL the lather in the bowl and apply it to your face at once? if you have a bowl full of lather i don't see how you could not get it on your face with the brush. unless you have waterproofed your bristles? maybe you need to give your brush a good cleaning?

does the brush work with other soaps/creams?
