Here's a couple from a few years back.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_viMg_PW_NCc/TYpd0tDSHuI/AAAAAAAADCY/TsB-HvvlxQQ/s800/Range.jpg
The bottom two are mine, nothing special. A Colt and Rock River, used them on duty years ago.

The ones above are buddies that were on the sniper team or former military snipers.

I have my eye on S&W AR Model now.

I loved the Aimpoint. Those things are so cool.

Here is my Eagle Arms. My dad and I built this gal in 1993 as a standard CAR type with green furniture prior to the ban. Over the last couple weeks I have been modernizing her with the flattop & railed forearm. She now(last night) got a Flat Dark Earth M4 stock and will be getting a FDE pistol grip, forward PG, and railcovers in the immediate future(I moved to the desert:biggrin1:). Haven't decided on an optic yet but leaning Aimpoint or Eotech.

Yeah 20 years ago not many choices for colors, black or green, I decided green looked less intimidating than all black:lol:. Plus I always liked seeing the ol' African G3s in SOF magazine growing up. Nowadays you can get stocks in yellow or even pink if you want:w00t:! Mine will soon be a nice Flat Dark Earth, kinda a nice even tan, to blend with the terrain where I live. I'll post another pic in a week or so after I have some more done with it!

They're not very expensive to make or buy. If you state allows it you can grab a good one to build on for under $1k

Something tells me .223 or 5.56 rounds aren't going to work on a zombie:lol:

I plan on picking up a S&W or Sig AR in the near future; my wife will likely take one of these for work so it will give me an excuse to buy another one:biggrin1:

 Beautiful!

Hey I saw your sigline; I have a Merkur slant I'll trade you for it:tongue_sm

PM sent?

:biggrin1:

If anyone wondered why I carelessly had the safety off, the fire selector won't move from single fire when the handle isn't charged. Don't know if other ARs are like that, don't really have a lot of experience with them.

I have a vertical grip as well, but I can't decide whether I like it or not. When I use it, it seems to be in my way all the time, except for administrative carrying.

You can definitely build one pretty cheap. I did mine about 20 years ago but have been contemplating doing another. You can build a plain jane M4gry carbine or A2/3 rifle for probably less than $600 if you shop around. Obviously thats minus optics and gadgets but it would get ya goin. The beauty is you can section it and spend say $200 get a lower + parts kit + stock. Later another $200 would get you an upper and barrel. $200 more for furniture and upper parts. These things are pretty much tinker toys. As long as you buy quality parts they are all milspec so pretty easy to do.

@azmark-Yeah my preferred zombie gun is a 12ga. we get that thread going and I'll post a pic.:001_cool:

And the hardware on a night time vermin shooting gun. This one shows the Surefire Millenium, the top pic doesn't. With subsonic ammo all one hears is the hammer dropping and the bullet impact. It's Hellywood quiet.

Here's my H&K MR556 (civilian version of the HK416). The scope is a S&B 1-4 Short Dot with locking turrets in a GG&G boltgun mount. The sling is a shooting sling by Andy Langlois that allows you to sling up as fast as you can bring the gun up.

Also one of yesterday's targets. 20 rds of Prvi Partizan 69gr OTM @ 100 yds. At least one of the flyers are due to the kid next to me who kept bouncing up and down on the bench.

I've also got an unmodified SP1 in the closet, but my eyes have problems with iron sights nowadays so it rarely comes out to play.

Gotta love the HK416's everyone-thinks-I'm-nuts-because-the-safety-is-always-off =P How are you doing at 200 yards, mparker? My personal best is five rounds, fifty points at 200 metres with standard aimpoint, no scope.

Well I guess I'll revive this old thread, finally jumped on the AR game. Rock River Arms Elite Operator2. Nothing on it yet, really want to shoot it with the iron sights first to get a feel for it before I put a low power scope on it. Came with all of the tactical upgrades, free floating foregrip, flip up front sight, ERGO grip, adjustable stock, two stage trigger, chrome lined barrel 1:9 twist, and a few others. So far so good, now to break it in soon.

These things fly off the shelves when they come in. Originally the guy told me 5-6 months, just happened to be up there looking at other brands, and he came out and said they had some come in earlier than expected. Had 6 come in today and 4 were already accounted for. I knew then I HAD to go ahead and get the gun.

Looks and feels awesome, no play between the upper and lower and no light shining through at the seam. Can't wait to put a few through it!

I just recently sold a Rock River LAR-15 with Magpul CTR stock, ERGO grip, Daniel Defense Qual Rail, and Aimpoint ML2 for $2000. I took those funds from the sale and just purchased a Colt LE6920 MP. It comes with Mapgpul's MOE furniture and I purchased a EOTech XPS2 Holographic Weapon Sight to sit on top of it. Also put Magpul's ASAP ambidexterous castle nut sling swivel on it to use with their MS3 tactical sling. Don't have a pic yet but the rifle looks identical to this one except my furniture is OD Green.

Agreed. I don't much care for the Magpul MOE foregrip, but I'm with you on the vertical grip.
We always refer to a full vertical grasp as "full retard" (Hollywood grip)... a more common grip is with the hand mostly in a normal position on the guard, but drawn back into the vertical grip so the palm is on a 45.
Personally, I run the Magpul angled-forward-grip and like it a lot....

Couldn't agree more. The gun did come with the grip but I left it off. Like Rich stated, the improved way of holding the forearm with the thumb over the top feels really good and it helps in pushing the stock of the rifle back into the shoulder. I wish I knew someone with an Magpul AFG on their gun like Rich has in his pic. That way I could see if I liked it before I purchased one. However, the new designed MOE forearm really helps with the transition.

I've got a Bushmaster XM15. A few years ago I blinged it all out with an adjustable stock, rails, Aimpoint, etc. About a year ago I put it all back to stock. Now I have all of the bling sitting on the shelf. Don't know why, but boring stock AR really appeals to me.

I helped my buddy Mark make his (meaning I used my employee discount of a sporting store to get the parts cheaper and he built it :wink2:). It started life as a plane-Jane Doublestar carbine, but we added a few goodies: Magpul Modular Back Up Sights, a Magpul MOE stock, Magpul MOE grip, a Magpul angled front grip (I like the concept, it works well IMHO), Tapco ladder-style low-profile rail covers, Magpul P-mags, and an Eotech main sight (I can't remember if it's a red-dot or a holo sight). This thing shoots like a DREAM!
