View Full Version : Seriously considering a Simpson Wee Scott

Well, I thought that once I got my Duke 2 that my shaving brush need had been fulfilled. But recently I have been thinking about getting a Wee Scott.

Why you may ask? Because I have moved entirely to face lathering, both soaps and creams. And I have found that while my Duke 2 does a great job at producing lather it sometimes hogs the lather away from the end of the brush and keeps the best lather from getting on my face. So, I thought that a smaller brush would do a better job at face lathering without hogging the lather.

I am mainly considering the Wee Scott but am also open to the Simpson Case or one of the other small brushes.

What say you Wee Scott owners?

Wee Scot is hard to beat. Having a signature on it shows how much value this brush had to the founder and family. Also my most enjoyable brush to use!!

I own both a Wee Scot and a Case and I prefer the Wee one. I took the Case on my last trip and I found myself missing the Wee Scot.
The Wee is great with both soaps and creams. I use it with shave sticks when traveling and I always get enough lather for three passes.

Yes, excellent picture. Thank you! :w00t:

Would anyone happen to have a picture of both a Duke 2 and a Wee Scott for comparison?

Thanks,

I just got my Wee Scot, and have another on the way...Yes, it is THAT good. I must tell you, though...it looks like a miniature collectible brush...it does not look functional when you first take it from the box, in fact it made me laugh out loud, and my wife went "awe, how cute", but it is a powerhouse. It has awesome soft bristles with great backbone for such a small brush knot...It makes mounds (albeit small ones) of lather and has the muscle to power through a full shave, even on a feller like me with a big face! What I like best is that it put lather EXACTLY where you want it! No more lather up my nose or in my ears...!

FYI WCS has a special now for 10% off for B&B members with BANDB as the code to use.

Buy one...you WILL love it.

The Wee Scot is definitely one of the brushes we are most proud of. Have said before, many imitators but none quite the same. Think of it as a 'concentrated version' of a Simpson brush. All our experience in making bigger densely knotted brushes went into this little imp!

Gary, how would you compare the Wee Scot with other small, inexpensive brushes like the Special and the Berkeley 46 (both in Best)? Thanks!

Marco, as you know I am more than slightly biased towards Simpson than other makes. The Special and Berkeley are great cheaper brushes. At the end of the day you are buying a Simpson brush which has been made the Simpson way, so there is a level of skill and quality across the whole range of brushes. The Special and Berkeley can hold their own against other branded brushes asd well as other Simpson brushes. And you already know my feeling on the Best grade of hair. Best or Super? Best will always be my 'wonderful'!

Thank you kindly, Gary. :001_smile Every time I see you writing of Simpson brushes I feel a great passion in your words! And it's becoming seriously contagious... Also, I totally share your feelings on the Best grade of hair! :thumbup1:

I'm thinking I may have to jump on the Wee Scott bandwagon. It's rare that there is never any negative feedback about ANY product.

I've yet to come across any for this little guy. If nothing else, it seems to be an iconic piece of "Wetshavicana" so I'm in. I get a real "you know you've committed to wetshaving when you have a Wee Scott...and use it" vibe from this brush.

I must acquire one, post haste!
