I have made the decision that I would like to switch to a Merkur DE razor. Does anyone have a good resource so that I can learn all about their different models? I have found plenty of sites that sell them but I have been unable to locate a site that describes each of the models differences. (ex Futur, 38C 34R etc...)
Thank you in advance,
DJ
Have you checked out West Coast Shaving?
They're one of the vendors here on B&B. I thought their descriptions were pretty good.
And welcome to the board!!

As for razors, I own the Merkur 38C (2 piece, heavy [4oz], long handle [3½in]), and the Merkur 23C (3 piece, light [2oz], long handle [3¾in]), both of which are moderately priced, considered to be fairly mild, straight bar / closed combed razors, for light, normal and medium beards and/or for persons with sensitive skin.
"Merkur; Solingen quality, Time-tested Tradition with Modern Design".
I bought both of mine (38C - $47US w/ free shipping, 23C -$31US w/ free shipping), from The Superior Shave.
The Superior Shave Homepage (and they describe and give specs for all the razors on their website). :yesnod:

For Merkur info, you can try the DOVO web site catalogue:

I suggest also searching the info found on the DE forums.

I've got a 23c also, and a 38Blue, but every time I see a 38c barber pole, I want one! Sure do like 'em both. Back to your initial comment NoTime, you're on the right track. I studied quite a few sites, including the Merkur home site. Don't forget to check out reviews for more information too. Enjoy the chase!

I had a 38c for over a year, its what I intially converted to, and it is a solid razor, and you cannot go wrong by owning one, especially with a feather blade loaded in that puppy! :thumbup1:

The 38c is my favorite razor--with Astra Sp's I get fantastic shaves. Have been thinking about picking up a second one "just in case".
