Well first week of DE Shaving is done, and boy howdy did I get a good shave this morning! Still have some rough areas around the neck to figure out though. Started out the week with bluebird blades, then for the heck of it switched to ASCO blades to give them a try. I really can't give a great deal of feedback due to the fact that I can't blame anything but technique right now for my mistakes! I will say though I went against the grain on my cheeks and chin and holy cow are they smooth. The Proraso Shave Soap seems to be a bit more difficult for me to lather than Col. Conk Bay Rum, or the VDH I had been using with my Mach 3. The menthol of the Proraso products does make for quite an enjoyable shave though. DE shaving is here to stay I believe! Ya'll take it easy!

Sounds like you are getting better, slowly but you are getting there. Just keep at it. It gets better.

After trying a couple of different soaps, creams, etc, here's what I've come up with. BTW, I had the same neck problems, but I've corrected with practice.

My starting line-up (after swearing off Mach 3's) was as follows:

Fat Boy
Slim Adjustable
100 assortment from the 'zon.
TBS Macca Cream
Proraso Cream
Neutrogena AS
Aveda AS
Tweezerman Badger Brush

I know some here may say, yikes on the Tweezerman, but I've found it perfect.

Whatever conditioner in the shower as a "pre-shave". I just rub it in and leave it on out of the shower.

So, the slim actually gives me more control than the Fat Boy. Fat Boy cool factor is a 10 though, so it's getting REVAMP service as we speak.

The Proarso (the light menthol wakes my @$$ up) with my slim adjustment at 7 on first pass, Sharp Blade, 5 on second pass, and pat in the Aveda as my AS. I have found 3 uses on the blade is just about right.

I'm in heaven!:thumbup1:
