Hi guys,
I just finished my second restoration. I reknotted a black and butterscotch Ever Ready handle with a cream Vulfix boar knot from TGN. It's a 22mm knot with a 19.5mm plug. I have no idea what the loft is... I just plopped it in, eyeballed it, and epoxied it. I do know it's kinda high, and I wanted it that way. The loft on my Semogue boars is high, and I love bowl lathering hard soaps with them. I intend to use this one the same way. Questions, critiques?

Yes indeed, as is the Sheraton!
I'm sure you'll get lots of enjoyable use from it. I've not used a boar knot for any of my restores but that looks great. May need to try.

Great A #1 work and very, very impressive :yesnod:
Although I may not be additted yet, but there's time (I think I'm holding up rather well against this Vintage Ever-Ready Brush disorder [especially the two tone color scheme knockouts],...and as Memebr Rm71 a.k.a. Rocco would say, "Badgers sure do know how to breed"!...I mean OMG :yikes: they can 'multiply' faster than rabbits (better to get them 'citters' nurtured or spayed :wink2: ), we all gladly suffer (and are doomed perhaps :lol1: ), to some degree from this shaving complusion, because at times..."Resistance is futile". http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-alien003.gif

Great work!:thumbup1:
Really nice work David, and I am surprised that this is only your second.
If I remember correctly, you had a bad case of sweaty palms when you did your first, and that seemed like ages ago.

Yeah, I just don't get around to 'em as often as I'd like. They're a ton of fun to do. I do have another handle all prepped and ready to go right now, so you may see my third soon enough. And thanks for the compliment.

That black and butterscotch looks great with boar or badger! Nice job!
What is the plug sitting on? Was there a lip inside the handle or did you place a cork or something similar in the handle? Thanks!

Looks awful. Better post it on the BST at a cut rate, but let me know right before you do...
That's a nice looking brush. What kind of epoxy did you use?

Thank you! The plug is sitting on the existing base (kind of a sandy looking material, but solid). I dug out all of the old epoxy and hair and ended up with a pretty deep hole.

Thanks Top. I used Devcon 5 minute epoxy. The kind with a clear tube and a blue tube. I squirt it directly into the knot base and then stir with a toothpick for a few seconds. I did my OS brush (thanks again!) the same way, and it's still perfect after months of use.

OK, I want that brush. I've been looking for a black/butterscotch EverReady but, as yet, have had no luck. Maybe this weekend's flea market searching will be productive.
