Pronounced Snoose - kind of like Skoal Bandits but not as dangerous....made in the Scandanavian countries for years (and are the best) and is now starting to be made by cigarette makers here.....the tobacco is not fermented like our pouches, much more flavor and no need to spit.

Any Snus users?

After i read clubmanrobs epic snus post, i got pretty into it. Swedish snus is a great way to enjoy tobacco.

+1 on General, prefer the one without bags though for taste, but the bags have definite stylish advantages ;)

Also some very nice by same company that are names from the cigar brands "Montechristo" & "Romeo & Julieta". Quite strong stuff, especiely Montechristi without bags but great taste!

I did stop using when I moved to Asia but still take some if I ran into a year at a dinner :P

Yessir. I am a General man now, used to get some great variety prior to the PACT act however. It's just too difficult to get some of the other stuff in the mail.

I was a smoker for many years, switching to Snus years ago got cigarettes out of my life without so much as the tiniest of desires.

I've probably tried almost every brand avaliable here, Göteborgs Rapč, Ettan, Röda Lacket, Grov Snus, Tiedeman, Lucky Strike etc. but I keep coming back to General.

I have found some websites that sell sample packs - 10 different brands, portioned, for about $28. Any thoughts? It seems pretty reasonable.

I find I am using snus less and less over the years just here and there and have stopped for weeks at a time for no reason. I was definitely addicted to cigarettes but I enjoy snus, no cravings or need to have it type feelings which is nice.

Honestly probably the least addictive thing I do.

+1 Also a huge fav of the Gotteborgs. Also Ettan, Grovsnus, Kronan, Roda, General Onyx, and the occasional Catch Licorice or Eucalyptus. I still want to try the Nick and Johnny stuff and Jakobssons Ice-Fruit

Yeah a lot of my favorites are, GROV was my standby and Gotlands was a great one too. As i said earlier the PACT act made mailing a bit harder, requires a signature to receive so it just became too complicated.

Too bad

The Swedish Match brands never miss. I also really like Skruf.

After the pact act went into effect i stopped buying so many different tins, and loaded up on General Original and Goteborgs Rape.

Wow I had no idea there were this many people that used Swedish Snus. I chewed Copenhagen for many years and tried to quit. Ahh yeah, didn't go so well. Anyway I went into a local cigar shop and saw this little fridge sitting on the counter next to the register. It was a General fridge full of all the Swedish Match flavors. I couldn't resist and bought a couple cans. I then used Snus for a couple years and stopped for a bit when the dammed PACT ACT took effect. I went back to using Copenhagen for 6 months or so until I gave in and placed another order through Getsnus.com. Tax and Shipping have both doubled but I still prefer the spitless, cleaner, safer, tabbacco fix. I have an Ettan regular portion in right now.... tasty stuff! I also will buy some General original from time to time.

General portion now, but used to use Claq qui and General Ekstra Sterk. Then they discontinued the Claq qui and the Pact act made the Ekstra Sterk harder to come by.

I should have stocked up on an extra roll or two.

I used snus for quit a while. I got the gift box from Sweedish Match. I think it had 10 cans of snus all different flavors. I liked them all. So much better than that fake Camel poor excuse for snus shit.

i think the box came with General extra sterk, mint, white portion, liqorice etc...

Oh yeah, I'm a snus user, I'm also the Dir. US Sales/Distribution for Northerner Scandinavia, Inc. We import our beloved Swedish snus from Scandinavia and distribute it nationwide to brick and mortar stores. We started late in 2010 and have made quite a bit of progress with retailers.

We import V2 products, Gotlandssnus products and our own Northerner branded snus. If any of you have a tobacco outlet or local premium smokeshop in your area that you'd like to see carry Thunder brands, or Jakobsson's...let me know via PM and I'd be more than happy to call the retailer personally to see if we can get some real Swedish snus in your local retailer ;-)

And what is Finnish fruit snus, because I don't know of one single company in Findland that makes any type of snus. Trust me, I know all the manufacturers of snus in the world because I import it and sell it. Do you detest all forms of tobacco, or just Finnish fruit snus?

I'm tickled; loved Northerner back when I was snusing. I've dropped nicotine entirely, but y'alls service and prices were great. Helped me kick a long love affair with Lady N, and for that I'm grateful.

And I'll go ahead and second everyone that's dropping some knowledge on the anti-tobacco crusader in the house.

Well isnt that funny,i was just on that website looking into buying some snus.I wanted some of the skruf extra strong but for some reason the site wouldnt let me have it....something to do with posting.I was a bit unsure of buying though cause i was scared incase it got seized at customs or something. But yea i like the stuff, ive got a couple friends from sweeden who use it.One of them told me that tjhe only draw back of using it is that if youve been using for like 40 years you get a pocket in youre top lip......im not sure what he meant but he could stick his finger quit far up there. He said it didnt cause discomfort and it didnt look abnormal. He may of just meant something to do with receding gums in that one area.........i dunno.

I used Copenhagen for 14 years and have used snus for the last 4 years. The snus is such a better product and much safer in my mind. Please don't come on here and preach to me the adverse effects of using Swedish Snus. I highly doubt anyone on this thread that uses snus is saying it's healthy for us. But in our own minds its much better than using American chewing tobacco where we have no idea whats actually in the product or smoking cancer sticks.

All right fellows, some are beginning to get a bit grumpy, and I'd like to make a couple of brief points.

The original post was an open ended invitation for those who enjoy snus to discuss some of their favorites, not a query regarding the positive and negative consequences of use.

Regardless of whether or not you agree with his statements perkus didn't insult anyone or violate the expected decorum in The Brown Leaf or B&B, although it was off topic.

Many asked for serious studies on the matter and received it, sometimes you get what you ask for.

Lastly This is The brown Leaf, not The Healthy Living forum lets all keep that in mind.

If posts that are off topic to the OP continue I will request that the thread be locked. Please continue discuss your favorite brands, type and vendors.

Just get some flavored skoal pouches, they're better then any highly flavored snus. If you really want flavored snus, I would search online.

There is a wide variety of flavored snus, the rape No2 is loganberry and juniper. There are others flavors as well on Northerner and Buy Snus but they are not as sweet as chew or dip.

I guess that's what I was looking for, sweet = good for me, thanks for clarifying. It's all personal preference. In snus the flavors are subtle, they are there but no where near as intense as dip. Some of the dip flavors are too much though, some of the snus flavors don't really come through at all.

Read the ingredients. Swedish is quite close to english so you should be able to figure it out. Lakrits/salmiak are liquorish (straight/salty) and a common flavoring although it isn't strong at all.

Actually I am Swedish and have been using snus regularly between mid 1980 to around 2005 even if my first try was long befoire that. I just wanted to avoid the obvious comment that even the "pure" unflavoured snus has some ingredients to enhance the flavour (if I remember right) And to me as i said, the snus should taste snus and not candy. YMMV though :)

My tastes have always leaned towards liking the plainer snus, Ettan,Grov, but recently I have found a liking for the licorice flavored ones, at least as a break from my standard rotation. The new Granit Special White portion is awesome and I hate licorice candy.

YMMV in a nutshell - I love licorice candy but cannot really appreciate it in snus :) Not like I dislike it that bad but when given a choice i go for the natural, preferably loose - no bag unless i need to be in a social setting ;)

I'm getting low on Claq Qui. I stocked up before PACT.

I really prefer Nick and Johnny or General Extra Stark portions.

Skruf is one brand I used to love, but the flavor and quality changed when they sold the company. Still a good product, but different in a way that I don't care for, drier and more bitter.

My planning was a bit off before PACT and I bought 3 to 1 portions and loose snus.

I've been using 4 or 5 cans of portions for every can of loose. So I need to order more or sneak a prilla at the office.

I really liked the 2008 Kardus. The 2009 edition was alright, but a little tangy with the rum notes. I haven't opened my 2010 Kardus yet. I like it because it's not so finely ground and is really long lasting - no mudslide.

I used Copenhagen Long Cut for years and smoked a pack a day. I still buy snuff once in a while, but I rarely have a cigarette.

I do wait anxiously for a rougher cut or coarser snus. I prefer snus over snuff and chew because I can honestly say I don't like the sugar in american dip. I do like the cut and grind better. Snus is kind of putty like. No big deal because there really is no need to spit, but it can get everywhere in between all your teeth and isn't something I've been able to master my technique with when I spit out my prilla. I always need to rinse my mouth when I use loose snus.

I really like Thunder loose and Oden's Kanel. It has a subtle and unsweet cinnamon flavor that is nice.

I never was into mint. So, I can't comment on the majority of mint snus. However, I do love me a Thunder Frosted portion now and then. It's spearmint. Burns like the fire of hades though.

I'm enjoying a portion of Montecristo at the moment. Bergamot = YUMMY!!

Loose is easy to pack with an icetool, or a cheaper version would be a 3-5mL syringe with the end cut off and piston restricted to push just to the opening.

I like the 3mL syringes cause they are quite discreet and stay in place well.

I have 3,4,5ml Icetools. In stainless and aluminum.

:blushing::tongue_sm

I don't do any hobby in a small way. I guess I go big when I go into stuff, like razors...

I have the Icetool boxes as well. I don't care for the portion one with the lid. I see they came out with slim ones, but they are still round.

I liked the rectangle shaped Nick & Johnny East and West used to come in. No pocket ring. I wish Ice would make them in rectangles like that.

My issue is that I work in an office, am always drinking a beverage, or talking to people. So loose just doesn't work. Icetool- prismaster- or bonde.

I stopped at the local BP today for gas since they were the lowest at $3.99, while the tank was filling I went inside for an Arnold Palmer. They had a sign up that they now had Marlboro Snus at $2.99 so I got one. The taste is not bad - although I am not sure how to describe it.....smokey perhaps? It was not bad however I don't think there are even 20 pouches in the tin.

I recently switched from smoking to using Snus and i really like it. It all started a few weeks ago whenI received a coupon in the mail from Camel for a free pack of Camel Snus. I choose the Camel Frost flavor and enjoyed it but after doing a little research I found out that Camel Frost is not real Swedish Snus. So i found a local shop that sells General brand and Ive been using General Mint and General White Portion for the past few weeks and haven't had a cigarette since. I save money and my lungs its a win win situation:)

I have been using snus for about 2 years. I started with Camel and moved over to Ettan and Goteborg's. I have since settled on General Portion both regular and white with a little Goteborg's #2 thrown in for flavor.

Not bad stuff at all. I am not a heavy user, maybe 1 a week or less. But it is a satisfying habit.
