Howdy all!
It's come to that time of year again where the snow slowly turns to rain and we just have to deal with it.
Getting pretty annoyed of always being wet so wanted to know if any of you have a good rain gear that you use regularly.
I just bought a rainjacket last night so well see how that goes, as for boots I was look at a pair of hunters. Anyone have any good or bad thoughts on them?
Anyways just thought I'd see what everyone else recommends.
Stay dry and have fun!

kind of depends on how/when you plan to use it.. rain gear for going to the office would be different than casual rain gear.. usually Gore-Tex is your friend. I like Marmot they cut their stuff to fit a normal guy. Patagonia is good but seems to be cut for the tall and slim.
It's been raining here for weeks when it isn't snowing.. I wear Ecco Gore-Tex boots, jeans, patagonia long sleeve silk weight t, baggy wool sweater then a Marmot rain jacket. Top that with a wide brim fedora type hat.

If all you need is a thin, non-insulated, waterproof suit to wear over street clothes (with or without additional outerwear), look no further than Frogg Toggs.
Last July, I rode my motorcycle from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area down to La Crosse, WI to get my motorcycle endorsement. It poured in torrents the whole way down and back and I looked rediculous ("...like the Michelin Man," said my wife!), but I was dry and warm!
Much to my horror, during a brief pause in the rain, my wife captured it on film and plastered it all over Facebook.

I have a pair of Gortex Merritt hikers that I wear daily. Totally water proof and very comfortable - not to hot, they breath very well.

I have a Marmot PreCip and I love it. Most of the stuff from Marmot, Patagonia, and The North Face is made the same way with the same materials (same kind of down in jackets, etc.) with the same "fair trade" principles, but Patagonia and The North Face charge a healthy bit more. I've loved every Marmot product I've owned.

I have a Columbia waterproof, thin hooded rain jacket that keeps the rain out. If it's not cold, you don't need a jacket with insulation in it. And it hangs down pretty low so it will keep water off your pants too.

Length is something that I definitely look out for. Before I got my PreCip, I had a Campmor brand rain jacket. I didn't realize it was too short until I was walking across campus in the rain and felt something cold and wet on my crotch. :blushing:

I have a waterproof shell from NorthFace in classic yellow for casual wear on rainy days. If it's pouring out I bring a large umbrella. I don't own any dress rain wear.

I have a North Face rain shell too, it's pretty cool. Giant hood works as a great roof to keep the rain from splashing my glasses, which can be a real PITA.

I have Frogg Toggs. I tore up the Frogg Toggs jacket, but still have the pants. The jackets just can't take much abrasion. My rain shells are Marmot Precip and North Face. Red Ledge also makes a basic shell which has fully-taped seams.
You don't need Gore-Tex. Actually, Gore-Tex does not help much in very humid places (like the Southern Appalachians). I have heard that it is wonderful if you are in Colorado high country.
