I have been sucked into the whole idea of restoring a brush. The problem that I am having is that I can't find any brushes around me or the ones that I see on eBay go for more than I think I would want to use on my first one. Or I should say, I worry about my ability to restore a brush and think that destroying a brush is more likely. The process seems simple enough, at least from the descriptions.
So, I have a couple questions:
Where do you usually find your brushes?
Was I misreading or is the removal of the knot and resetting of a new knot pretty simple tasks?
How often do you have to try and set the knot deeper or make major changes to the original structure of the brush?

Try antique stores or flea markets.
Look on ebay for job lots of items too.

Ok, looks like I have my first brushes to work with. This one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rt=nc&nma=true&item=280637452154&si=lNhhhY8u0SSDZ5nSB2M0MpEx1gE%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT)and this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rt=nc&nma=true&item=280637454991&si=lNhhhY8u0SSDZ5nSB2M0MpEx1gE%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT).
I will post again once I get them in and once again rely on the knowledge here to help me.

The 2nd one looks like the base might be butterscotch.
Good catch.

That's what I thought. But, I kinda like the other one a bit better. We will see if that holds true if I am able to polish them and get them looking good again and with a nice knot.
