I've never had anything ship from Canada before, do you know off the top of your head of the going rate for a tub? Not going to quote you but just for future reference.

Malaspina

Shipping to the US usually starts at $15.50 up to $40 in purchases so I always recommend buying a couple of items to make it worth the shipping for you.

Thank you for asking.....

Any deals on shipping in canada. I am in manitoba and saw $12.50 for CP shipping. That seems a little high. Is it a flat rate?

Hi there Mo5-0,

We don't have flat rate shipping available to us. It is based on a minimum size box of 4" x 4" x 4" and up to 450 gr. As the size gets bigger and heavier my cost goes up. I don't charge a handling fee for any product either.

When you order more than one item, then the shipping becomes a better deal. If you like you can PM with what you would like as well as your address and I can send you an exact quote.

Thank you for your inquiry....

Cheers

Hi Bruce,

Yup the Dog-Gone Shampoo was developed for my 3 dogs, 1 of which is a digger and I've had to bath her three times in one day. That's a picture of her on the Doggie Diva Corner page (http://www.malaspinasoapfactory.ca/doggie_diva_corner.html) and my groomer uses it for her clients that have sensitive or allergic coats. It's also easier to wash their bellies with a bar shampoo than liquid which just runs through your fingers.... :tongue_sm

Hi Matthew,

I believe you can at least watch the previous episode through the CBC website. IF I get through and actually end up in one of the shows, I will let everyone here know and then let you know once the segment is available on the website.

Thank you.....

Thank you for the good wishes. I won't know until early April if I will be moving forward. It was an amazing experience with some very sounds business advice given. They also confirmed the direction I am taking my business to be the right on. I may be a tad early to be there as they would like to see more sales, so we'll see what happens. They did like the part of the pitch I want to do at taping with the shave.....

So we'll see - truly worth doing even if I don't get through this year... and they gave me a couple of leads of who to approach to carry my product line.

Hey everyone - I need your help designing a new fragrance so I'm looking for ideas.

The name of the fragrance is going to be Dragon's Breath and I would really like to hear your ideas of what the fragrance name brings to mind. Is it sweet, spicy, a deep musk or a combination.

So please share your thoughts and let's have fun.

Spicy, something that has sizzle to it with just a little smoke.
Maybe a little earthy or woodsy, but not too much.

I was going to say Dragon Fire. I think it sounds better without the 's at the end.

It sounds manly and fierce!

To me Dragon's Breath sounds too negative because the same phrase is sometimes used to describe bad breath. I'm thinking Dragon's Gold - strong and masculine with exotic notes, something that says adventure., enterprise, risk-taking, self-assuredness... Or, Dragon's Chest, Dragon's Treasure, Dragon's Spell, Dragon's Secret, Dragon's Oath.....?

Malaspina
04-04-2011, 01:46 PM
Thanks guys.

Yeah Dragon's Blood is the name of a fairly popular fragrance oil (I call mine Oriental Spice) and there is also a medicinal resin which is called Dragons Blood (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon's_blood) and is truly an amazing remedy.

Maxman - call-backs haven't occurred yet so I honestly can't tell you for sure.... Anytime between now and the end of May is when I could get called, if I get called.

So far we have:

Night Dragon
Dragon's Lair (Layer)
Dragon's Chest
Dragon's Treasure
Dragon's Spell
Dragon's Gold
Dragon's Secret
Dragon's Oath
Dragon's Fire

There are some great ideas in that list! Thank you...

Any more ideas?

Now for the scent:

Masculine
Deep
Musk
Smokey
Spicy
Exotic
Woodsy

So are you guys thinking it would be a heavier scent then? Rather than an airy or water scent?

Here are a few more names to consider:

Dragon's Flight
Dragonlore
Dragon Warrior (after the old Nintendo game)
Red Dragon, Gold Dragon, etc.

or you can name it after me and call it Pete's Dragon!

Whatever name you choose the scent sounds intriguing and I would love to try it.

Malaspina
04-10-2011, 12:53 PM
Dragon Zen
Dragon's Gold
Cosmopolitan Dragon
Aire de Dragonne (aka Dragon's Breath)
Amore del Dragonette

So I think I'm going to do a full series of fragrances in the Dragon line, these are the ones that have been suggested through a few different places and I think they are the most interesting and fun.

What I would like to do now is start with one fragrance at a time to come up with impressions of what you think each one would smell like.

So what would you think Dragon Zen would smell like? What images/feelings does this invoke?

BentonClay

Mo5-O

Dragon Zen would smell like unbridled power mixed with calm all in one.........basically you would know that when you smelled it, the scent had the potential to overpower you but didn't and would calm you.

Everyone has been wonderful - thank you. I am still working on Dragon Zen and I have decided that all the Dragon scents will be based on black pepper. I'll let you know once this is ready to go.

I do have one other new fragrance to introduce - Cherry Tobacco.

I also wanted to remind you about the Tooth Cleanser. This is a product that is a natural product. It leaves your teeth feeling like you just walked out of the dentists office. Our tooth soap does not leave a coating on your teeth which allows your teeth to re-mineralize, which allows them to strengthen naturally. Your cost for this product is only $5.35 and it is available on the website. Keep in mind we have a full line of bath, body, shaving and even dog grooming products.

Cheers

ETA - it was just brought to my attention that White Star Lines had Cherry Flavoured tooth soap in each of the first class cabins as part of the their courtesy toiletries. The tooth soap was a solid bar in a small stainless bowl....

So now I have a question for you. Would you prefer to have your tooth soap in a plastic container or in a stainless bowl that you could buy refills for?

Quick Dragon's Den update - I have not received a call-back so I am going to assume I didn't make it through this year.

This will not in any way impact my business as it was meant for additional publicity and funding to move through into the "next" level of marketing. I am one of the ones that my business is solid enough with or without Dragon money.... :biggrin1:

Thanks to everyone for your good wishes and I continue looking forward to being of service to everyone..... you've been good to me

Did you know we have a tooth soap? Not only do we make high quality shaving products, we also have created Malaspina Tooth Cleanser which is a tooth soap. It is a natural product and is made using Certified Organic Olive Oil, Cocoa Butter, Honey & Spearmint Essential Oil.

Tooth soaps let your teeth re-mineralize as they don't leave any coating behind, it also helps eliminate plaque and scale build-up. Depending on where you live here in Canada you can find them in some health food stores with more coming on board.

Linda,

How is this organic tooth cleanser used; it looks a little bit like a conventional deodorant stick. Can you give us more info on this product, it looks interesting and you have sparked my curiousity; it's very difficult to find great teeth cleaning products that are all organic and natural.

Hi Joseph,

You are correct on the packaging, it is mini deodorant style tube that is used. The way you use it is you raise the tooth soap above the lip of the container, wet your toothbrush and rub it across the top of the soap, then brush your teeth as usual. Once a week I like to add baking soda on top of the brush after it's been loaded with the tooth soap to whiten my teeth. I don't add the baking soda to the tooth soap as any abrasive is hard on your enamel. At this point I have a health food store on their 3rd order and it looks like there are going to be 2 others carrying it as well.

You will find that it doesn't explode with flavour like commercially produced toothpastes and I like to use a mouthwash after brushing my teeth.

Thank you for asking...

Cheers

Linda,

I was wondering how the oatmeal affects the lathering capabilities and lather quality in your new Gentlman's Corner Oatmeal Shave Soap. I have experienced the wonderfully explosive effects of your Triple Delight Cream Shaving Soap (Cherry Tobacco:thumbup1:) and am curious if the oatmeal cream might not be quite as easily whipped into a thick, slick, luxurious frangrant bomb of joy and jubilation... at the expense of superior soothing and restorative effects of the oatmeal content.

Also, I'm running into some new fragrances at your web store that I can't find descriptions for. Country Gent and Western Pleasure come to mind. Perhaps a dedicated page on the store website for scent/fragrance descriptions (subjective as they may be)?

Malaspina

Hi there KarlMaddensNose (love the nick btw)... Country Gent is a blend of Leather, Tobacco, Almond & Sandalwood. Rich and smoky this makes me think of sitting in my grandfather's study in his favourite leather chair. Western Pleasure is a wild and sexy accord, combining top notes of Tumble Weeds, Basil Leaves, and Tonka Beans; followed by middle notes of Brushed Suede, Earthy Patchouli, and Amber Stone; all sitting on manly base notes of Aged Saddle Leather, Red Cedar, and Full Musk.

The Oatmeal Shave Cream got amazing reviews from the testers on the depth of the lather, ease of lathering and glide as well as moisturizing qualities. The oatmeal is finely ground into a flour style powder and it feels amazing on the skin.

I'll go check and make sure these fragrance descriptions are both on the pages. I will create a page on the main website for fragrance descriptions as well. Thank you for the suggestion.

She's excited to try the bath bar.

I may have to dip into her Vanilla Bean cream. It smells very nice. :thumbup1:
