This morning was great. I had what I think was the best shave of my DE shaving experience.

I did all things like I normally do, except I changed out a couple. Instead of using my normal shaving soap, I wanted to try my TOBS Mr Taylor cream again with the new knowledge of loading the brush. Instead of trying to dole out about an almond sized amount, I took my brush tips in the cream and made a couple flicks till it looked like it had about enough cream on it. Then I lathered in the mug that I always use. I took out my FB with setting at 7 and put in a new Israeli Persona. I did my normal WTG passes and then a couple XTG and one quick ATG pass. I finished off the shave with a Witch Hazel splash and then some Nivea balm. It was BBS.

I have had some good shaves doing this, but this was the best feeling shave that I have had since starting. I just wanted to share. Thanks for all the advice that allowed me to enjoy this morning.

Nice!

I really love my TOBS. It's a great cream and I always get a good shave when I use it.

Way to go on a successful shave. It really makes the day so much better. If you're like me, the only bad part is waiting for the hair to return ... for another shave!

Congrats on the shave! Keep up the good work!

I had my best DE shave today, too. The day after my worst shave

Main differences: New blade for 6th shave, better prep (modified Kyle's prep), and sloooow down.

The other thing I did was to prep lather up with hot water and to use cold water to rinse the razor between strokes. I have heard that this approach opens the pores initially and then the cold water closes the pores on your face and makes the stubble stand up for easier shaving. I am not sure if this is true or not.

Anyway, the first three things were probably the main reason for the better results.

One thing I also noticed is that the blade and inner razor head had a lot of soap film on them. I have really hard water in my house so I will have to rinse the razor better with hot water.
