Hi,

As promised, we have added a 15,000 Grit Chinese finishing hone to our Hone section of the web site (http://www.therestoredrazor.com/shop-and-shave/maintenance.html)

Here are some images of the 15,000 Grit Chinese Finishing Hone with Slurry Stone (http://www.therestoredrazor.com/shop-and-shave/maintenance.html?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=120&category_id=3). It is a pretty hefty slab. $50 with slurry stone or $45 without a slurry stone.

What is the difference between this 15K the Chinese 12k hones which are commonly discussed? Is this is different hone which is capable of a finer edge?

Hi,

The 15,000 hones we carry are rated about 3,000 grit finer than the a 12,000 grit Chinese hone. Other than that comparing our 15,000 hone and a 12,000 Chinese hone side by side they are very similar in color and weight.

When honing I can feel a noticeable keener edge come off of the 15,000 hone.
