I'm a complete newb at this so I thought I would ask the experts. I can't post a link to this since it's an active auction, but I was wondering if this was worth getting and restoring (pics attatched). It's a Clauss and I've heard they hone and shave well.
Clauss are good yes. The first picture gives me an idea but the second confirms the pitting on the edge. This is a 50/50 chance that the pitting will need to be honed out to have a shaveable edge. It might turn out nice. I wouldn't pay more than $15 for it if you decide to get it. If it's a total loss, you won't loose much.

I'll pass on it then. I'm looking for something that I can clean up myself without needing a lot of work. Plus looking for vintage razors is SO FUN!!

I've fixed up a lot worse and made them into good shavers. It Depends on the price and what you are expecting it to look like in the end.
If you are hand sanding there may be some scarring where that rust is, but that will just be cosmetic. The possible pitting on the edge can be honed out.
If the razor is around $20 or less and you want a razor to use rather than display I think this would be good.
